Title: Secondary for sniping
Post by: AlecBeach on July 22, 2018, 04:54:52 PM
I got a new sniper rifle and realized my current pistol (KJWM9) won't cut it. It doesn't shoot far enough. I need a recommendation for a new sidarm. I was maybe thinking go smg because they'll shoot farther.

Range is all a matter of hop up and bb weight. Just because a platform might be an SMG, doesn't mean it will guarantee longer range than a pistol. Though as a back up to a sniper, an SMG would have other benefits such as full auto capability, and possibly ammo capacity.

So yeah T6 is spot on, but if your pistol isn't able to shoot far enough(which is kinda silly) then it's an issue with the gun itself. You really only have to cover your MED distance with the backup, IE sub 100 foot. Most anything serviceable should be able to be accurate at 100 foot distances.

My own opinion, my favorite backup is a CYMA G18c AEP. It's simple, it works at any temp without issues, and it's got full auto like an SMG but fits in a typical pistol holster. In warm weather I generally will swap over to one of my KSC/KWA G18c guns since it uses the same holster etc. But I only need it for close up work, so it's sort of a non issue. Also one of the reasons I like the AEP is the low velocity because I can shoot someone nearly point blank and not hurt them. When I'm running my sniper rifle say in my ghillie there are enough times where someone comes upon me and doesn't know I'm there at all but ends up with a very close shot. So in those cases I'll either let them go or take them out with a handgun, and that AEP is a champ for that type of work.

Personally when I run my SR25 I carry my WE G19 with a couple standard mags and an extended mag. You shouldn't need crazy distance for your secondary. When I use my M40A3 I actually carry one of my KAC PDW's. With the stock folded it's the same size as an SMG and I can run my 190rd MAG mags. It's a great option if you want distance. One of mine has a longer TBB and a foam filled suppressor and it's still as compact as an SMG.

I also absolutely love my CYMA CM030 G18c. Ive put probably 2x the price of the gun into it in parts and such. And is my go to sidearm for any loadout. Mine currently doesn't have a functional fun switch(full auto) but it wasn't really something I used anyways.

What pistol are you running that can't hit 100 feet? My buddy upgraded his new elite force Glock 17 and it can shoot a soda can at 100 feet 9 times out of 10.

Not sure about the desert eagle mentioned above, not really practical. If you can get hands on one the TM mk23 pistols are excellent backups. I have the EF glock 19 and have been impressed, but i haven't tested in the woods and it may lack the range to make up the 100 foot MED. Still a solid choice for 40 foot engagaments.

i personally would get an SMG over a pistol and i would recommend an HK MP7 but if you want a pistol than i suggest a G17

My buddy sold me his Elite Force Glock 17, and I love it. It shoots super amazing, I can hit past 100 feet easily. I'd recommend this gun to you AlecBeach!

The new EF Glocks can take WE Tech mags too so if you want to run extended mags it can help you out in a pinch for not that much cash

That should be fine. The only difference between the 17 and the 19 is that the 19 is the smaller compact version.
