Airsoft Discussion / Elite force 1911 thoughts?

So I've recently been looking at the elite force 1911 as an alternative for a sidearm that will work well in cold weather. While researching, I heard virtually nothing bad about it; except for several reviews saying its prone to break (due to it being co2) and that spare parts are hard to find or proprietary. So I figured I would ask you guys what you think of the 1911 by elite force, and if you don't like it, any suggestions on what pistol/brand I should look into.

My current sidearm is the KJW p226 and it works allright but I tend to only get 10 shots or so out of a single mag and I would like to remedy that, either by solving the issue or by buying a new gun.

I'm surprised nobody posted this yet.

I had a very good time, I thought it was a well organized and implemented event. There was plenty of trigger time for everyone, and everyone seemed to be good sports. The different tasks that were assigned were unique and challenging. My personal highlights of the game were climbing the embankment (that resulted in an ambush at the top) and the night mission. The night mission was so intense, as it was pitch black and we could hardly see anything. And while it took us a long time to skirt around to come from the north it was well worth it, though we did have a scare from the refs who we mistook for the enemy.

Airsoft Discussion / Recommended Gear for Milsim West?

I'm looking into going to Assault on Derbent, the only problem is I'm not sure what kind of gear I should get for the event; as I have never participated in a 40 hour milsim before.

I know I would need a ruck sack, any that you guys recommend? Main thing is it needs to fit over my JPC. (EDIT) and be affordable, I can't spend $300 on what is essentially a large back pack.

For food what would you guys bring? I thought that I would just buy some MRE's but was interested in hearing of any alternatives.

For cold weather gear are we supposed to have faction appropriate jackets? Or could we just bring in some random coat. I wasn't sure about this as in the TACSOP it simply states "cold/wet weather gear."

Do I just need to get the Milsim West tourniquet? Or do I need to get a full IFAK

Please let me know if you can think of Anything, not mentioned in the TACSOP, that you feel is important.

Airsoft Discussion / Thermal Lens question

So I recently watched this video and it left me with some questions.

I'm not sure if his testing is "scientifically valid" but it still looked impressive to me. My question is, would any thermal lens goggles have the same results? If not are there any particular goggles you would recommend? Please keep in mind they need to be large enough to fit over my prescription glasses (at least until I can get some contacts.)

Michigan Commerce - Airsoft Guns Allowed / WTB JPC Replica/Pouches

I'm looking to buy a JPC replica in multicam. Willing to consider any brand or manufactor (besides the TMC/Emerson), but would prefer Flyye, Semapo, or MODI repros. I'm willing to spend anywhere from $50-~$150 depending on brand and condition.

Also I'm looking for:

A triple M4 mag pouch (I don't really care about the brand, but would prefer the elastic blue force pouches)
A radio pouch for my small handheld
And a dual pistol mag pouch

My only requirements for the pouches is that they are tan or multicam.

Tech Questions / Should I flat hop?

I've recently been getting into the tech side of airsoft, and during my research I learned about different kinds of hop ups. I've become interested in trying out flat hopping and was looking for advice. It looks relatively easy to do but I was curious to know if any of you recommend it (or don't).

What are some good quaility bucking/nubs that I could use to flat hop? I was looking at the Prometheus nub and bucking, but I heard bad reviews about their bucking.

Finally, does anyone recommend a particular video/article about flat hopping?
