Digital Entertainment / The Division Loadout
« on: February 12, 2017, 02:03:54 AM »
Currently I am in between purchasing new camouflage as my premade harness will no longer work. It's going to be a while still I can save up for a bunch of new gear. So I was derping around trying to get a price list when the game "The Division" came to mind. I remembered that most weekend game have a "civilian/contact" team and until I get tax returns and purchase new gear, I could essentially be a Division Agent.

The gas mask could be pretty much any kind as in game they switch based on whatever one you equip, but as I am running around I believe that this would be a good one. It stated on the website that the straps help lock down the mask, and a bottom vent helps direct air away from visors.

You can find the patch just about anywhere for really cheap.

And lastly the watch and beacon. For the watch I found this one for $5 on Amazon

And the beacon I was able to find someone had posted up a 3D model for print, but I could probably make one similar.

After that it's all civilian clothes so I could be set! (At least until I get some decent new gear)

SPRING / Ares MS338 Bolt Issues
« on: January 31, 2017, 08:58:46 PM »
Finally after all the wait, I've received my Ares MS338... and ran into problems. Starting from the beginning, loading the mag. The gun came with a looong stick loader which has proved to be an issue when loading as the mag is pretty tight so I can only load half the stick at a time to get the force needed to load the mag.

When I finally got a full mag and began shooting, the second problem occurred. Contrary to popular belief, the feeding tube wasn't the issue. It was the trigger box that (I believe) is the problem. The trigger is really loose, (can push to the left) and I fear is causing the sears to not engage, which is preventing the bolt from catching. I'm going to attempt to tighten it down, as my biggest fear would be having to replace A BRAND NEW gun part! It's looking to be a $117 replacement for the trigger unit and I've already spent a lot on this.

Unless someone else have a suggestion?

Accessories & Ammo / Re: Anti-Cant Device

Thanks for the replies!

You could always do a MacGuyver of parts to achieve the same result:
This Rail attachment
with this bubble level attached to it.

Or something similar

I've considered trying to 3D print something as a guy I contacted did the same with his gun and it looked great. Unfortunately I don't have access to a printer yet but I will in a year.

I found this on amazon for $20

https://www.amazon.com/MK-Machining-Rail-Mounted-Level/dp/B01IRTWK12/ref=pd_lpo_200_tr_t_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NVYDNTC283RDFSBSWPFW

That might work, I'll do some more research on it. Thanks!

Accessories & Ammo / Anti-Cant Device
« on: January 27, 2017, 09:18:11 AM »
I have been looking for a behind the scope "rail mount" bubble level (anti-cant device), however the only one I can find seems to be this one: http://www.operationparts.com/knights-armament-picatinny-rail-mount-anti-cant-device/ But that $70 price tag seems way too much for such a small device. I'm pretty adamant about one that is rail mount, that way I can attach it underneath my scope instead of off to the side. Scope mounts I don't think will work with my scope version. I'm considered getting a simple magnet back for 1/10th of the price and hoping for the best, but I'm wondering if any of you know of a cheaper version of this?

Newbie Discussion / Ghillie Help
« on: January 26, 2017, 01:27:40 PM »
My current ghillie suit that I'm running is your stereotypical walking bush which as you can imagine is quite problematic for assaults, and I'm looking something more mobile friendly. I found a suit that I feel will work well, however I am unsure of the color that I would need for the playing fields. For those of you who have been to the fields, which color would work better based on foliage and leaves? More brown or green?

(Or should I just say eh to it all and get the edgy black?   ;D )

Off Topic / Re: How to improve my Airsoft videos?
« on: January 26, 2017, 11:07:52 AM »
To start with a bright color thumbnail helps, placing a lot of tags on your video helps with directing people. Most of the sniper kill cams I watch usually have a kill counter or a graphic for when you make a kill, similar to Call of Duty or Battle Field, which I find entertaining. If you have enough videos you could categorize them by like "headshot compilation", or "unbelievable trick shot". Lastly if you haven't already, I would consider posting to multiple social media platforms like Tumblr or Facebook. And posting short videos weekly is usually better than a long video a month.

There's my 2 cents, hope that helps a bit!

My first gun was a Springer Famas, really into Halo at the time and it was the closest I could get to their battle rifle!

Parts of my new gun are starting to come in so I'm going to document them as they arrive!

First to show is my new NcStar Mark III Tactical Series Generation III 3-9x40 Scope!
This thing is quite the beauty! Made with Die Cast Aluminum, it weighs about a pound so it's heavy but worth it! Large ocular lens makes it very simple to look down the sights with goggles on, much better than my hand-me-down Simmons 4x20 compact. The only issue I have with it being that the Windage Adjustment Dial is very stiff to adjust.

It has a normal black reticle when off, but can be illuminated for blue/red and goes quite bright at highest setting.

All in all, can't wait to attach this to my gun which will be coming in the following weeks!
