Share a quick one-liner or short historical anecdote of your Michigan airsoft experience. Go. I will excuse myself from the beginning the exercise.

Herro thar everyone! Canto here! I've been a member of Michigan Airsoft since I started playing back in 2004 (doesn't seem like it's been that long). I'm out on the Southwest side of Michigan (Kalamazoo area).

I've been running a stock Echo 1 (lame as that sounds) AKS-74U AEG for years now; if it aint broke don't fix it. I use an OD green Chi-Com for gear and camouflage wise I've collected a little of everything over the years.

I like the idea of an introductory post for everyone, not a lot of people know where everyone came from, where they are at, or what everyone runs or uses...

"Sometimes I wonder if there is more to life then being really, really,  ridiculously good looking." -zoolander

As far as history goes I started in this sport in 2002 back in the days of the big three. Tokyo Marui, Classic army and I.C.S. I joined the forum in 2006 and CJA was formed in 2011. If I wanted to I good write a book on all of the guns and gear I've owned and all of the memories.

Well I'm a relatively new member of the airsoft community, but I've been playing airsoft for around 5 years. I've been playing seriously for about a year now. I'm the CO of the recently formed Task Force Phalnax. We aren't that established yet but we're working on it. The only three guns I own that are even worth mentioning are my G&G CM16 raider, my G&P M4, and my KJW P226.

I look forward to playing more with you guys!

I joined MIA in late 2003 after Munin put me in touch with the rest of Geist Kompanie, started playing in 2004, and got really into it. As GK slowly fell apart, and other interests grew more significant in my life, I stopped playing so much. Now I play occasionally at best. An increasing portion of the community is younger than my daughter is. My favorite weapons are the ARES/STAR L85 and the Systema PTW.

I Joined the airsoft community (officially) in 2013 (Jan 30, 2013 at 9:11pm, to be exact).
I had been lurking on the forum since late 2012 and had bought myself a gun in late 2012.

Since then I've probably gone through 12 to 13 guns and a few pistols.  My first real event was a Rec. Game at No Limits where my Mb06 decided to start slam firing right at the beginning of the first round.
I ended up using a Crossman Pulse Mp5 and a plastic shotgun that got lent to me.  Somehow or other I still had fun at that event. My favorite event so far has definitely been Grayling, all politics aside.  While I won't be returning this year for BS it was a really cool atmosphere to be playing in.

That's pretty much everything for me.

I'm a fairly new member of the MiA community but I've been playing airsoft for about 5 years, around 3 of which I would be despised if I was around you guys. This community helped me out of the stigmas of kids playing airsoft. The usual stuff, basing firearms knowledge off Call of Duty, tac vest full of high caps, running around someone's yard spraying full auto, not calling hits...I could go on. Now I've been exposed to what airsoft is supposed to be and I'll be attending as many events as I can before college.

I joined MiA the summer of 2006. My very first 'MiA' game was Canto's Op Starlight in Bangor. As we all know, Bangor in the spring time can be quite overwhelming to a rookie, but that was an epic day complete with M80s being thrown across the field that night. I spent part of that day with Mirage and Blindshot, eventual creators of Team RAGE. The following year my buddies and I met Nexus and the Team Black Talon crew, and after talking quite a bit, we joined their team. Eventually half of us broke off and created our current team, Palisade.

Well I'm wordy but I'll try and keep this short. I started researching then playing in 2003 came to MIA and a bunch of places that are gone now like Airsoft Players, etc. Picked up a Tokyo Marui M16A2 as my first airsoft gun, then shortly after a KWA Glock 19 and it spiraled from there;) I've kept just about all of the guns I've bought over the years, other than a few I bought for parts or repaired and sold. But all but a handful are still in my collection today 12+ years later. Living in the UP there was little to no airsoft anywhere around here, and being an older guy even then I was 20(compared to some people who started much younger). I started organizing games and buying more guns to lend out to get more players. I also started going to allot of the events downstate when time and money allowed. So I played with quite a few of the guys and teams that are no more back in those days.

Then I got roped into helping a buddy of mine with his stepson's birthday party after not playing for I'm not sure how long over 6 years under 10. And well here I am, back addicted to airsoft and playing as often as I can. Organizing games up here again, playing with a group that has sprung up semi local to me with a fair sized player base. And allot slower than 10 years ago even though I no longer smoke(guys who remember me from games I always had a cigarette hanging from my mouth while playing). So I'm enjoying it again and trying my best to not get burnt out organizing games, and playing other people's games to keep interested.

Joined MIA in 2009. In 2010 I started posting quick airsoft videos to my Youtube channel: Cravona, as just something fun to do and to feed my enjoyment of making videos. After garnering some views and subscribers I decided to focus more on the Youtube channel and currently now have over 1,500 subscribers. The channel has honestly been the driving factor behind keeping me into airsoft. I also love buying and selling guns/gear.

My first Milsim was OP: High Value I or II (can't remember) at FAH's field. Since then I've attended some other MIA milsims, rec games, and some larger national games.

Started playing in 2005, I started with backyard games with plastic gearbox guns until someone showed up with a TM ak47 and opened my eyes. Now I mostly lurk the local rec. games and play with I get some free time. Started hosting at matrix about 2 years ago, thats about it.

Started playing backyard airsoft around 10 years ago with springer pistols and shottys. From there I bought an lpeg then an aeg and kept going up from there. Took my kit from surplus OD trousers and an old school lbv to RS gear and HPA.
I joined MiA back in '09 and floated from the black clovers, to Immortal for a few years and finally settled with the A-Team. It's been a hell of a ride, met a lot of cool dudes along the way and owned way to many replicas.

Got my first springer at 11 (HFC SIG P228). Lurked MiA and saved up a couple years, then joined MiA and  bought a TM Ak47 at 13. Came to my first game at bangor that same year, with Canto's approval. (Flashfire 1 anybody?)

Fast forward 10 years and prolly ~100 replicas later I've settled at 15 (still have that TM), used to moderate the commerce section (RIP?) and am still enjoying the hobby. Can't beat the MiA community.

Thats me.

I was introduced to airsoft in the summer of 2006 by a friend who took me out to the Weapons of Mass Instruction (WMI) retail store in Lowell, MI. I'd played paintball since 1996, but wasn't a huge fan of the shift towards speedball and was looking for something new. I played my first game at the WMI field using a rental Classic Army M4A1 and was hooked. My first non-recreational game was Operation Tequila Sunrise in Kalamazoo. By that time I'd bought my first gun, a CA G36K. Between 2006 and 2011 I played semi-regularly, turning up at games all over the state from Bangor to SFOD and Charlotte to Futureball and Hell Survivors. I first ran into this crazy, bearded, hawaiian shirt wearing guy named Pagan at Operation Island Thunder in 2011. By 2012 I'd started to team up with Relarz and the RAGE guys or Pagan and the rest of the Suicide Kings whenever I ran into them at games. Officially became a Suicide King at the conclusion of Operation Northern Light III at the Trenton Steel Mill. In 2013 and 2014 I tried to branch out and hit some larger events such as the Northern Light IV, Lightning Strike IV and Blacksheep at Grayling. I've always tried to attend the Firestorm series of events at Bangor.

I've met a ton of great folks through MiA and especially since we've started to do more with social media and FB over the last 2 or 3 years I've gotten to put a lot of names to a lot of faces.

Been playing airsoft for ~3 years. First year was only backyard but then I went to my first rec game and realized what the sport was. My first "big" game was the bastards Realsim back only in November. However I'm trying to make it to a national level event this year so it seems like I'm moving along pretty fast. My decent replicas include an AUG, Tavor 21, MP5k, and a Luger. I'm relatively new to the community but look forward to many more years as a member.

I started into airsoft when I was probably 12 or so with getting my first springer for Christmas. After lurking MiA for a little while I joined in 2009 and since then I've had the chance to meet a lot of great guys and make some great memories. The first organized game I ever attended was OP: Pinch Point in Bangor, MI. That event is what really sparked my interest in the sport and put me on the path to where I'm at today. I've had a lot of fun being part of the MiA community and I hope it continues!

Entered the Airsoft realm back in 2006 after my senior year of High School. Started out with a TM AK-47 beta and slowly upgraded form there and over the years. Before I left for the Coast Guard most knew me for always rocking out pistol games at SFOD and having a giant silencer on my M14, which I still have to this day, just on a shorter barrel. First major game was SFOD at the end of summer '06 and have yet to get to any big scale Milsims due to money and the inconvenient leash of Active Duty.
These days I'm rocking my old-school TM M14, TM P90 TR and a G&P Magpul edition M4 CQB as well as dabbling in the world of real-steel when I get a chance to feed my boom-sticks.

Now that I'm back home stationed in the mitten. Got out a bit to No Limits last summer bit it wasn't enough, and I'm looking forward to getting back out with everyone this summer when things wind down a bit at work.

Well, I'm Viper (Matt) from the Nighthawks. We have been around since 2004. I think we joined MIA around 2007? Had crappy AIM and other cheapo guns when we rolled into the OLD MOA field out on the West Side.

I think Rolling Thunder I was our first game there. Crappy green camo, borrowed from parents and picked up cheap at Harry's... Yikes.  Thousands and thousands of dollars later; here we are National Events, cross country trips, broken bones, shot out teeth, and awesome friends to go along with it.

High Five old dudes!

Back in 2008 I was looking at getting into paintball, during my search for a paintball marker I came across airsoft guns. That began a year of obsessive gun collecting. I started playing backyard games in 2009 with a few friends and joined the forums in 2010. I am hoping to get into milsim this year and take the time to get to know more of my fellow members. See you all on the field!

I have been playing since 2003. I was a member of the team that has sense quit, retired, had children and got married. A.C.O. ( Airlift combat operations. I am mostly just into the bigger games now as I run my own business so "free" time is at a premium between being freshly married (in the last two years) and buying quads and Halrey's etc. Just not enough hours in a day.

Have been playing paintball since the late 90's.  Had a group of guys from work that organized events every 3-4 weeks, usually at No Limits, Futureball or Hells Survivors.  One of the guys that played with us was into airsoft and kept trying to convert us over from paintball.  Over winter 2013-2014 I actually started talking to him about it and made the plunge and bought a gun and some gear. My first airsoft event was 3/29/2014 at a No Limits game hosted by the Suicide Kings.  Had a great time and was hooked.  Since I have been to several SK No Limits games and Rage/Bastards Hells Survivors games as well as Grayling last year before the Blacksheep/PTSD situation.

While I still have my paintball stuff, I am officially a convert and have no real desire to go back to paintball.  Airsoft is definitely more bang for the buck after you get past the rather large initial investment.

I've been lurking on MIA Proborads since 2008. I've been out of the airsoft game for quite a few years now due to other expenses (college) but perhaps once I'm done I could pick it back up again. I played a lot of games at the Winery/Farmington CQB as the operator over there (Hunter) is a good friend of mine. I mainly stayed on MIA for the General Car Discussion and the Digital Entertainment thread. I've also been to a handful of those MIA go shooting days at that range in Lapeer. Hopefully we can get a few of those auto threads going again.

Airsofting for about 7 years on and off. I mainly focus on MilSim games, and I'm part of the Combat Junkies. I helped Spidey and Ajax start their team, Task Force: Phalanx this year. Currently, I'm helping TCPaintball get their feet on the ground with airsoft. Look forward to a MilSim game in July...

I was there too @Gimpalong ! I Also played with SK at that game before joining the team.

I acquired my first airsoft gun [an HFC M92 FS Spring Pistol] at the age of 12 (back in 1999) and I played airsoft through most of high school with a group of friends which were mostly backyard games, but we started organizing larger games with 20-30 people on private property just outside of the Plymouth-Canton area. Unless there was anyone playing airsoft prior to 2001 in Plymouth-Canton, then I like to think of myself as the "John Smith" of airsoft to Plymouth-Canton. :)

I got out of airsoft towards the end of high school and started playing paintball since I knew more people who played that, but I always preferred airsoft over paintball. Woodsball was starting to become obsolete and replaced with speedball which made me like playing paintball even less.

I took a break from playing both for about 4 years while I was finishing high school and starting college but decided to get back into paintball since I had a couple buddies in college who also played paintball. Right before I committed to buying a Tippmann A5 package, I decided to browse the internet and see if airsoft guns were still a thing. :) To my surprise I saw that there were WAY more AEGs than back in the late 90s and early 2Ks from when I was more familiar with airsoft. Instead of buying that Tippmann A5, I bought a Tokyo Marui P90 instead and the rest has been history! :)

I discovered MIA towards the end of 2008 after I decided to get back into airsoft instead of paintball and I first started playing with Snafu and his group of friends in Canton/Ann Arbor. Those were "backyard" games but with adults at a small built up field in Canton and then at a farm out in Ann Arbor. I also played games out at @Yankee 's private field.

Otherwise, I was also playing at more official venues like Farmington CQB when the Hellfish were hosting those games. I played at MTAC when that was around, and played outdoor airsoft at No Limits while the Hellfish were hosting games there, but also attended some Task Force Iris events at Hell's Survivors (Durbond I & II), played airsoft at Bangor and Charlotte, attended one of Sky Pilot's events at Futureball, made it out to one event at Lowell, and of course at SFOD for a few years.

My buddy "BUnit" and I met Piper at a game at SFOD and joined Immortal in 2009 and I was on Immortal until 2012 when I joined SK. But the thing that I love the most about airsoft is that it doesn't matter what "team" or "side" you are on because at the end of the day, all that matters is that you're having fun enjoying this hobby. I wouldn't do anything any differently even if I could since I met so many awesome people along the way and have so many great memories.

Now I mostly just ref games at Action Paintball once a month with SK, and of course still attend larger national events with the community and make it out to the Bastard's events as often as I can. I have a 14 year old cousin who got into the sport and enjoys playing with me when he can and my friend who I got back into the sport with will be getting out of the Navy in less than a year and is coming back to the state since he already has a job lined up and will be getting back to playing with me.

Well I wish I could say i had a storied history with airsoft, but honestly I didn't know it really existed until last summer. Playing a lot of Battlefield 3 and 4 I had watched a lot of Levelcaps videos on YouTube.  Stumbling on his airsoft vids I decided to give it a shot and myself and a couple co-workers hit up Tango Down, used a couple of their rentals and now I'm hooked. One month after TD I had my own Combat Machine, army issued Multicam ACU, and two bottles of .20 bios and went to a Hells Survivors open game by myself. Now hardly a week goes by that I'm not buying a piece of kit or gun part. Look forward to meeting not of you guys.

Started playing back in 2004 with bb guns (the pump ones, only doing one pump, with paintball masks) at my buddies property. Thought the idea/challenge of hunting another human was the most exciting thing I could do at the age of 14, so I started looking into airsoft and paintball concurrently.

Starting dabbling around Atomix Paintball as it was a few miles from my house in Novi around 2005, ended up playing there quite regularly and volunteer reffing when they were short staffed in order for deep discounts on admission and paint when I wanted to play. Fast forward a year and playing the same exact field and the same style kinda got boring, around late 2005 started looking at an airsoft sniper rifle to get back into the tactical side of things.

In late 2005 I joined up with "Team Tehn". The leader of the team knew of a good area of woods that was in the back of an industrial park and would host rec games out there. Team Caedes was kind of our rival team, ended up meeting dudes like Airsoftdevil and Mirage, Connors, and the rest of RAGE then. I had a UTG M324 that I teflon modded and that was about it, and honestly it was one of the better little springer I've ever had. Shot true out to about 40-50 meters, which was all you needed in dense woods, and was pretty light.

After about half a year of playing there I got picked up by RAGE and started going out West for the first time to meet Canto & the Bangor scene (Timm, Deadprez, a few other dudes). I ended up leaving Team Tehn and joining RAGE on full time somewhere around 2006, and eventually starting doing spotter work for Livonia. Ended up playing games almost constantly once every other weekend out West, and when we weren't playing we were building up OpDoc's field. Eventually reached the point where it was time for me to enlist, so I signed up to go try my hand at being a SEAL with the U.S. Navy.

As it turns out, the medical center (MEPS) that processed me in lied about my eyesight in order to fulfill the contract, as SEAL is worth a bit more points to a recruiter than the average bear. Ended up going through boot camp in a SPECWAR division (Basically just meant we worked out earlier in the morning and did more PT). Once I was in Pre-BUD/s a second physical was done, only with the Dive Officer. They noted that my eyesight was way worse than what was written, and I was basically told I can walk from the Navy, or choose a new job. I remembered that OpDoc was a Corpsman and saw a bit of trigger pulling time (or so he said), so I figured I'd follow that route.

During the 5 years I was in, I think I hosted two or three charity events around Christmas leave time. Once I got out Geronimo was my first event as a free dude. We hosted a few more under the RAGE banner, but had some internal issues and majority of us thought it'd be best to formulate a new team that works off a true democracy platform. In August of 2014 we formed The Bastards, which right now is the only group in Michigan putting on MilSim events at the local level.

That's about as much as I can recall without thinking on it too hard.

Call me a1,

I've been on the boards for about 6-7 years.  Usually make a show to  Rec games in Taylor, did a long number of games at Farmington while it was operating.  Helped out with the initial conception of the Matrix Airsoft as well with Hockeydemon.  Looking to get back into it since I have more time and money on my hands.  A quick google search of "Legitimate airsoft events in south east michigan," pretty much got me involved after discovering SEMIA.  Don't play in your backyards kids. ;)

Also, if anyone knows who to message about transferring post count, that would be greatly appreciated!  ;D

SDM of Task Force Phalanx. Been airsofting about 7 years (seriously for about 2 now).

My first gun was a Crosman springer M4 from Walmart (come a long way since then:)).

My current primary is an A&K DMR Masada, backup is an A&K SVD springer.

Just attended White Mountain and had a BLAST!

Been here since 2012, got into after playing in my friends yard when I was younger. Started getting into gear more and more as the times gone by and collected a decent little comlection of stuff. Have a pretty sweet STG that's missing a gearbox, an HPC without pouches, few uniforms. Started selling a lot of stuff off because I need some money.

First event was at the Sabr field in Lowell then some Scen game shortly after at the same place. Ended up making a team, got some cool patches.
I've been through quite a few guns and some gear. Pretty hardcore chairsofter which will change soon, especially with more games being hosted somewhat close by (an hour drive is close for us). Hopefully I'll get out to a National game before I join the army next year.
