Airsoft Discussion / Your Gear Progression!
« on: September 30, 2016, 10:09:36 AM »
Hey guys! Let's see your gear progression down through the years.

I started playing in 2006, but the earliest actual photos I could find were from 2010.

Operation Watchtower @ Bangor, 2010
Classic Army M727 Carbine
Classic Blackhawk Down Loadout
DCUs

Rec game at No Limits, 2010
Classic Army M727 with MOE foregrip, CTR stock and I think I bodged a PEQ-15 onto the side. Tossed my Surefire onto the barrel.
DCUs

Flashfire V at Bangor, 2010
ICS M4A1
Eagle Industries UCR clone

Operation Fueling the Fire at Splatmandu, 2011
ATS chest rig. G&P M733, ACUs (back when ACUs were cool... were they ever really cool, though?)

Operation Shores of Tripoli at the rriginal Matrix Airsoft field, 2011
Weekend Warrior EI SPC replica
FROG Uniform
G&P M4A1 with ACOG and grippod (still own this rifle today!)

Operation Global Betrayal at Hell Survivors, 2012
Replica JPC with Flyye MAP, G&P M733

Operation Northern Light III at McLough Steel, 2012
ATS chest rig and G&P M4A1 with Polarstar FE. I also carried a KWA ATP Glock-a-Like and wore a Protec helmet, but it was so hot all that stuff got left at camp as the day went on.
Truspec OD combat shirt and M81 pants - the agreed upon color scheme for Northern Light for MiA folks.

Operation Pandora's Box at Sherwood Forest, 2013
Flyye EPC, G&P M4A1 with FE

Operation Northern Light IV at McLough Steel, 2013
Truspec OD combat shirt and M81 pants as per usual. Flyye EPC, G&0 M4A1 FE.
This was after I tried to climb through the huge crack pile on site...

Firestorm III at Bangor, 2013
Mayflower APC, HSGI TACOs and an LCT AKM that I owned for a hot minute!
Also Gunny!

Lightning Strike V at the Scioto Juvenile Detention Center outside Columbus, OH - 2014
The start of my 75th Ranger Regiment craze. Flyye RG EPC with a mix of Flyye and RLCS pouches. G&P M4A1 with ACOG and PEQ-15.

Operation Blacksheep at Grayling, 2014
Standard Ranger gear. G&P Block II with whiz-bang DD rail!

Operation Blacksheet at Grayling, 2015
Standard Ranger gear, but with Multicam this time! Ranger-ed out G&P M4A1

Operation IRENE at the MUTC - 2015
They told us to look poor!
ALICE gear, pink soccer jersey (ftw), G&P M653

CA G36K with a flat-top rail from a G36C.

Purchased it off Arnie's Airsoft in 2006.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Good places for a n00b to play in west michigan?
« on: September 19, 2016, 09:20:18 AM »
Howdy,

You might have better luck asking this question on the MiA Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/michiganairsoft/).

You can also check the events section on this forum (http://www.miairsoft.org/index.php?board=7.0).

The closet place to GR that I'm aware of is Hole in the Wall Paintball near Bangor, MI. @Canto, a forum member, hosts games there fairly frequently.

As far as renting a gun, you might want to pick an event you want to attend and then make a post asking if someone will loan you a gun for the day.

Airsoft Discussion / Re: Rations - Do I Have to Eat That?
« on: September 06, 2016, 10:16:57 AM »
As far as I'm aware there are no restrictions of the type of food you bring to any of the major MILSIM events. The event organizers are less concerned with what you bring than that you bring enough calories to remain functional the entire event. For more "traditional" events like those hosted by Lion Claws, Black Sheep and Third Coast Airsoft, breaks are built into the event so players have time to rest and eat off the field. For longer 24-40 hour events like MSW, players need to pack their food onto the field and many bring MREs, Mountain House meals and other freeze-dried victuals that they "cook" up using water heated with Jet-Boils or other camp stoves.

Huge necro, but figured this might be useful for other folks in the future.

Hey @Mosin,

I'm headed to Ambient Light next month and figured I'd pack as if it was an MSW event. Below I've pasted my packing list for my Osprey Kestrel pack. This is pretty much my basic back-country stuff plus a few airsoft specific items.

I know you've been to (quite) a few more MSW events by this point. Care to take a look and let me know what I need to add/subtract?

Event Planning / Re: Lion claws OP IRENE in Detroit 2016!
« on: August 11, 2016, 09:57:35 AM »
Well guys I solved most of my questions by calling a buddy of mine that has gone to the last 12 OP Irene games. And the good news is I'm registered, I'll be rolling with him and his team along with a few of my guys from the UP. But we'll be there;)

And that after seeing the original OP Irene stuff back when it started, and wishing I could make it. I'm finally going to get out to a proper event from Lion Claws, and I get to play in the Packard plant sounds like a dream come true;)

Luke

Stoked that you'll be there!

GAS / Re: HPA Care Tips?
« on: May 24, 2016, 04:23:31 PM »
I leave air in my tanks. They're designed to hold air and holding air won't damage them.
I unplug my air-rig and de-pressurize everything. I suppose you could leave everything pressurized, but why would you want to?
I remove my air-rig from my tank, but this is mostly because it's easier to pack everything down when the air-rig is off the tank.
I don't teflon tape anything that is meant to be screwed in and unscrewed on a regular basis.

Shift,

I don't think so. You should PM Deputy865 directly and ask.
