After Action Reports / AAR: Operation: Auric Vahkan (08/19/2017) @ HITW
« on: August 20, 2017, 11:47:13 PM »
Thank you to all the players that came out this Saturday for Operation: Auric Vakhan! The weather couldn't have been better, not too hot and not too cold. I hear the usual issues about goggles fogging, but that's going to happen no matter what.

Through out the day, I heard very, very few issues with players not calling hits (sportsmanship). Great job Michigan Airsoft in playing with intregitite. The only issue I saw lots of times was friendly fire. Which a lot of times is unavoidable, espically in an enviroment with thick levels of cover and elevation differences. AKA Hole in the Wall Paintball. My only advice is that players come up with a unqiue faction only code-word and a corresponding reply.

At the end of the day, the Chinese Triads ended up exchanging more narcotics (Fake Herion and LSD) than the police ended up seizing. However, the counter-narcotics faction kept the cartel on the feet all day with constant raids and several interceptions of drug drops. Great job to participants on all sides!

To all the new players that came out to join us, we sincerely hope you had a fantasic and memorable experience and we hope to see you again soon! To all of our seasoned veterans and loyal patrons, it's always good to see you, your continued support and patronage keeps us going!

2017 Storyline:

North Korean Artillery Strike Kills 50 Near Incheon

In a predawn attack by North Korean forces, a massive artillery barrage struck dug-in U.S. and South Korean positions outside of Incheon. The artillery strike preceded an assault by Chinese mechanized infantry, the secondary attack was quickly repelled by South Korean air support with minimal coalition casualties reported.

The South Korean city of Incheon has been a hotly contested region during the course of the war, with it's proximity to the DMZ and large transportation network by air, land, and sea making it an appealing target for North Korean and Chinese forces and a vital supply route for coalition troops.

- Chad Kennedy; Detroit Free Press.

Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull Announces Australian Support For Coalition Forces

In a televised address, Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull announced Australia's intention of joining the joint United States-South Korean military coalition operating on the Korean Peninsula. Australia has offered the use of military bases and airfields by coalition forces as well as a contingent of 10,000 troops, military advisors and air support for ground operations.

Prime Minister Turnbull stated that the growing levels of violence in the war, the destabilizing nature of the conflict, and a massive refugee crisis as Australia's reason for entering, saying; "Australia is concerned with saving the lives of coalition forces and preserving the nature of representative government. By allowing this conflict to continue, it will ultimately move our direction, we have no option but to act."

- Jessica Harrison; BBC.

Chuncheon Again Under Siege By Chinese Troops

Elements of the U.S. 8th Army along with South Korean 703rd Special Assault Regiment are fortifying in and around the rubble of Chuncheon. Recent intelligence verified by aerial reconnaissance shows large numbers of Chinese infantry within 10 kilometers of the DMZ near the border of Gangwon province.

UNICEF aid workers along with Doctors Without Border's personnel have been quickly trying to evacuate civilians and all non-military personnel from the city in the rapidly worsening situation. The evacuation of civilians and refugees has been hampered by the deteriorating conditions of roads and railways leading in and out of the city.

- Amy Barnes; CNN.

USS Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group Moves Towards Korean Peninsula

In a strong show of support for American and South Korean forces, President Donald Trump has ordered the USS Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group to assist ground operations in the region. On his twitter account the president said that; “this war has gone on for far too long. It is unfortunate that myself and my administration have inherited this mess. The time has come to act and end this once and for all.”

The carrier strike group, also known as ‘Carrier Strike Group 1’ includes an aircraft carrier with fighter aircraft, attack helicopters, guided missile cruisers, destroyers, and a complete complement of crews. It is expected that the USS Carl Vinson will be a strong show power projection as well as supporting ground forces, by doing so the U.S. president hopes to force the Chinese and North Korean government's back to the negotiating table.

- Jason Caldwell; Reuters.

North Korean Forces Maintain Hold on Sariwon Against Coalition Assault

In a military operation that has lasted for months, North Korean forces have successfully been able to hold the the city of Sariwon against South Korean and American troops. Despite aerial bombardment and unquestionable air superiority, allied coalition progress has been limited to the outer suburbs of the city and pockets of industrial areas.

American and South Korean commanders anticipated stiff resistance from North Korean troops operating in the city, the KPA I Corp along with elements of the 105th Armored Division continue to maintain full control of the city. Roadblocks and landmines that have been erected on all main routes in and out of the city provide a challenge for coalition forces attempting to enter.

Hats off to all of the decidated players that braved slightly rainy weather and fought hard all day long. Various parts of the field were under constant NATO-Russian attacks. All things considered at the end, both teams gave it there all! Hats off to all those that attended!

It's taken me a while to compile all the photographs from the event (three cameras) so here we are!
