After Action Reports / AAR: Operation: Firestorm VI (11/12/16)
« on: November 14, 2016, 08:32:29 PM »
Thanks to everyone that came out to Hole in the Wall Paintball for Operation: Firestorm VI this Saturday! As always, it's good to see all of the old familiar faces and to catch up with everyone! All of those that have never joined us before, I sincerely hope that you all had a great time and I hope to see you again in the future!

The morning started frosty and a bit cold, props to all those that camped on Friday night before the event! The high during the day was in the high 40's to low 50's; a great day for autumn airsoft...

North Korea and China (Green Team) pushed hard all day long with the South Korea and United States (Tan Team) keeping up in a close second. By the time late afternoon had rolled around, North Korea and China ended up taking the day by a slim one point! Operation: Firestorm VIf I turned out to be a minor victory for green forces!

Unfortunately due to equipment issues, our photographer wasn't able to snap any pictures and due to staff issues, I was only able to grab a handful!

Operation: Firestorm VI Photo Album: https://goo.gl/photos/SeamT1gHxTwouVSd6

Once again, I would like to thank everyone that braved the chilly autumn weather and joined us for our annual event! If you missed this one, it's quite alright; keep watching the forums or facebook page for our next game!

2016 Storyline:

“South Korea is a whorehouse, where the imperialism of the United States and its allies procreate in the loins of outsourced industry and globalization. Our mores and venerated traditions are corrupted and sold in back alleys of Seoul by vendors of capitalism. The glorious legacy of Korea, built on the backs of freedom fighters is burdened by the scourge of American colonialism upon our world.”
- KCBS Voice of Korea, Pyongyang

Chuncheon Liberated After Months of North Korean Occupation

Citizens of Gangwon province are cheering as South Korean and American troops push resisting pockets of Chinese and North Korean troops out of the region. The province with a population of more than 1.5 million people, and its largest city of Chuncheon with more than 200,000, was quickly captured by North Korea during the beginning salvos of war. Sharing a Northern land border and a section of the DMZ with North Korea, the city was viewed as a key location for suppressing anticipated coalition resistance to the invasion.

The future of the city however seems less certain to some than others. Having been captured during the initial outbreak of war, the city and its population have suffered greatly. Large sections of roadways and bridges were made impassible by repeated artillery barrages and air strikes, some of the craters large enough to swallow a passenger van. Less than 25% of the remaining urban population has access to electricity and potable water, telecommunications and internet networks have also been destroyed. In addition, over 100,000 people are said to have abandoned their homes and fled South when the first shots were fired.

65 Dead and Over 100 Wounded At Sydney Shopping Mall

65 people have been killed and more than 100 people severely wounded by what officials are calling a “Pro-Chinese” terrorist attack at a crowded shopping mall in Sydney, Australia. Initial reports including cell-phone footage captured by local residents tell of automatic gunfire and several explosions.

Australian officials initially were quoted in saying that the dead and wounded numbered less than 50 combined, however as emergency personnel and law enforcement began sifting through the rubble, the number quickly grew.  Multiple improvised explosive devices (IED's) are strongly believed to have caused the massive explosions and the remains several of Chinese made Type 56 assault rifles were also found at the scene.

The attack has prompted renewed policy debates on the position of the Australian military in the mutual defense of the Oceanic region. The Australian government initially took a neutral position during the outbreak of war on the Korean peninsula, opting only for limited support (airspace, naval facilities, and intelligence) of American and South Korean military actions.

The ANZUS Treaty between the United States, Australia, and New Zealand has been in affect since 1951, providing the aligned nations with mutual support and cooperation on military matters. The terrorist attack brings into question the long standing agreement between the three nations, and if Australia and New Zealand will join the United States and other coalition nations fighting a common North Korean-Chinese opponent.

Televised Executions Spark Global Protest

In a televised broadcast, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un addressed an audience of over one-hundred thousand at the Rungrado May Day Stadium in Pyongyang. The address, highlighting the military successes of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and it’s Chinese allies was punctuated with notes of caution towards would-be dissidents and military defectors. The Supreme Leader warned of the dangers of pervasive American and South Korean propaganda regarding the conflict and stressed the cultural unity of the North Korean people. Following the speech and a brief military parade, a small cadre of North Korean special forces acted as a firing squad; gunning down a nearby group of twenty shackled military defectors.

The speech and executions were televised nationally to North Korean citizens, including a radio broadcast for those that lacked a television set. The footage and broadcast has sparked global outrage and mass protests regarding the North Korean regime and it's unprecedented level of brutality. Social media websites such as twitter and Facebook have erupted with worldwide calls to expand military action in Korea. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon issued a statement calling the televised executions “barbaric.”

Coalition Forces Begin Assault of Sariwon

Elements of the US 8th Army along with the South Korean 3rd Armored Brigade began a ground assault on the North Korean city of Sariwon in North Hwanghae province. Beginning before dawn, the attack began with Republic of Korea aircraft bombing defenses and roadblocks just outside the city. Followed immediately by an rapidly advancing assault by Armored Personnel Carriers, Tanks, and Humvee's.

An important commercial center and cultural icon, resistance including well armed paramilitaries and suicide bombers is anticipated to be fierce. Large elements of the KPA I Corp, 105th Armored Division, along with several battalions of the Red Guards Militia are thought to have established a presence in the metropolitan area.

Battlefield commanders have noticed a lull in North Korean and Chinese military operations and a significant change of tone and tactics. In recent weeks, combat has been limited to sporadic but intense firefights in isolated and otherwise “quiet” areas. Car bombs and suicide bombers termed “Juche Jack” by US service members have become more commonplace since the start of the conflict nearly a decade ago.

After Action Reports / Op: Cracking Sky AAR - 05/14/16
« on: May 14, 2016, 08:38:25 PM »
Thanks to everyone that came out today and played! Both teams fought very hard today on extremely rough terrain, hats off to everyone that braved the cooler temperatures and brutal landscape. I hope everyone had a great time with us today.

It's great to always see familiar faces, all you old time Michigan Airsofters; there really isn't that many of us left anymore, it was good to see all you guys!

To all the new guys, I hope you all had a lot of fun today and I hope you'll come out and join us again in the future on a less messy occasion.

This is by far one of the toughest events seen in nearly ten years... Wow to everyone that played through it all!

At the end of the day, tan team left the field as the victor. The event had a final score of 6 green to 7 tan. With a partially completed objective being the decisive factor.

The rainfall of the previous night and early morning combined with an already high creek level created a situation that I have never encountered before. Normally you get one or the other in the lower basin; completely flooded (1-2 ft standing water) and not flooded (some muddy areas but mainly dry). Never an in-between level... The water level was just high enough to flood lower lying areas and deepen already muddy areas). The result was a very unique landscape of muddy areas in an peninsula-island layout. Low flooded areas, deep (flooded) runoff trenches, and isolated dry pockets.

This ended up devastating anything I had originally planned for game-play and 3/4 of all objectives I had planned for both teams for the entire the day. Anything involving paper/written intelligence is useless, high-low ground areas are isolated and seized and difficult to capture, and lower areas nearly impassible and improbable to hold. The Southern Ridge ended up being an isolated island, cut off by the creek itself and then the lower flooded area at the base. I also didn't want to force players to hold or use lower areas, I ended up having to because I was running out of high-ground objectives and terrain to use.

Players ended up concentrating in higher ground and ridge areas and not moving at all because of the flooding. In turn, this caused everything from respawn and FOB location problems, to boundary issues and switching areas... I personally feel this wasn't my favorite event nor my personal best because of all the flooding problems. Simply put guys, I couldn't use most of what I was going to do today because I didn't want to make everyone trudge through areas of 1-2 feet of water and I knew people wouldn't want to (or simply wouldn't).

I took this on Wednesday (May 11th): https://goo.gl/photos/cvx7Jy7SCEma3xP3A

Today: https://goo.gl/photos/4ufXDdv9JbohjADS9

Once again, I would like to thank everyone that came out today and braved the chilly temperatures and brutal field environment. Everyone fought hard and all teams were great today. I hope everyone comes out and joins us on a time when the creek isn't quite as high.

I will be posting more pictures when I get them. Thanks Triggs!

Thanks to everyone that came out yesterday for a great day of spring airsoft! We saw a lot of new faces roaming around the field and a ton of familiar players to! I also saw a lot of younger airsofters out there, welcome to the community guys! I hope you all had fun!

Mosin, Marshy, Timm, Blaze, and Blindshot; always good to see you guys, it's been far to long!

Thank you to all the SABR boys for your reffing and game type ideas. People loved em!

There were very few issues with players not calling hits (there will always be some, no matter what). Other than that, I can't remember anything else. Hats off to those that participated for sportsmanship!

There was a minor issue with friendly fire; mainly due to to rec. game style round/side/faction changing in-between games (normal). But this soon resolved itself when people started playing with each other and recognizing each other (normal).

I have uploaded photographs I have taken to a google photo album. When I receive additional pictures that were taken, I will add those as well.

Once again thanks to everyone that came out on Saturday!

Storyline:

“Crack the sky, shake the earth” [we are] “about to inaugurate the greatest battle in the history of our country…”

Differing strategies, political doctrine, cultural ideologies, popular opinion; both for and against, are defining characteristics of the Vietnam War. Lasting nearly twenty years and claiming the lives of over two million people, it has left a distinct imprint on international politics and the “hearts and minds” of countless others around the world.

Beginning in November of 1955, with the exit of French military forces from former ‘French Indochina’, United States support originally began as a containment strategy to limit communist expansionism by the Soviet Union and its allies. A partition at the 17th parallel divided Vietnam into a communist supported North and democratic South following a rigged election in October 1955 by Ngo Dinh Diem.

Large scale, organized dissidence erupted across South Vietnam between 1954 and 1957, but was not effectively quelled by Diem’s government. By mid 1958 increasing levels of violence and political disobedience reached a level where legislation permitting “death and property confiscation” was enacted for acts of violence.

In March of 1956 southern communist leader Le Duan proposed a plan to other members of the Politburo to revitalize insurgency in South Vietnam; the proposal was unequivocally rejected, however limited measures to revitalize the insurgency were approved in December.

North Vietnamese communist leadership approved a ‘people’s war’ on South Vietnam at a session in January 1959. The first arms delivery via the ‘Ho Chi Minh Trail’ through secluded and mountainous areas of Laos was completed by August. Laos was invaded by North Vietnam that same year and used over 30,000 troops quickly construct routes for the movement of troops and supplies through areas of Cambodia and Laos. Between 1961 and 1963, 40,000 communist troops infiltrated into South Vietnam; coordinated North Vietnamese offensives exploded across the country the following year.

Thanks to everyone that came out today and braved the cold winter weather, today was a great game, smaller than anticipated but a great, rugged winter event.

It seemed like both teams were having issues with radio communications, which slowed gameplay down a bit. Gotta love radios.

Today ranks as a victory for tan team forces, having completed several objectives throughout the day while consistently keeping opposing forces alert.

Green team was in the fight all day long completely secondary objectives while continually harassing tan forces from near and far locations.

The terrain today was brutal, snow, ice, mud, and steep inclines make for tough terrain to take and return fire from. Hats off to those that participated today!
