SPRING / Re: TM VS JG BAR-10
« on: September 23, 2015, 09:00:55 PM »
This gun is going to be one of those long term "i need a break from life so I'm going to go tinker with something" builds.

The Action Army set was the first thing I got simply because my first experiences with sniper rifles using stock triggers and sears went fairly horribly. (3 shots before a game at no limits my sear gave out.  Enter Crosman Pulse).

The trigger group costs just about as much as the JG Rifle itself but the common consensus is that they can hit 75,000 + rounds without needing to be replaced.

As far as the TM goes, which style do you have?

SPRING / TM VS JG BAR-10
« on: September 22, 2015, 11:24:48 PM »
I've taken a look around Airsoft sniper forums many words on this topic and I still have a couple of questions.  I know that the JG and TM Bar-10's are pretty much 100% identical as far as aftermarket parts go.  I have an Action Army trigger group on the way as I type this.

My real questions is this:  Is there any substantial difference between the two externally or anything minor that I should know before buying one or the other?

To those of you who have handled both, which did you like better?

Lastly, for those of you who have upgraded the TM...  Which parts did you leave in the gun?  I plan to leave the TM hop up (And grab a dangerwerx arm).  Is there anything else you would typically leave in a TM?

After Action Reports / Re: AAR Operation: Geronimo II
« on: September 14, 2015, 10:58:18 PM »
Definitely a great event.  I'm sad I missed the night game but all in all it was a fun day.

Overkilling was definitely a thing at this game but looking back at it a good 75% of it could have been avoided by me just moving out of the way.
Hit calling was great for the entire game minus one part.  During green's assault on the castle I watched my bb's bounce off of someone's goggles (twice), watched them duck their head down for less than half a second, pop back up and hose me down.  Other than that I had no real issues.  Also, props for the sportsmanship.  I know I have some growing up to do in that area.

Also, to the guys using green lasers...  Please be careful with them.  After doing some research (and prior knowledge from a previous experience) I've found several sources (Real sources) that basically say the green lasers on the market today can cause permanent eye damage and even blind spots in peoples visions if it hits their eyes directly. (Sources: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/01/health/01laser.html?_r=0  http://www.livescience.com/21707-lasers-eye-damage.html and http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/can-a-pocket-laser-damage/ )  Personally, I think they should not be used in airsoft at all as they pose a well documented and very real health risk. I also understand that stopping gameplay for that dumb of a reason is useless, It's just a concern of mine I felt I needed to bring up in the AAR as green lasers (especially visible ones) are a growing trend.  I was also personally hit at least 5 times with the laser directly into my eyes.

The objectives were well thought out and executed by the Bastards.  The CIA element was a pain in the royal ass all day long but it made the game more interesting.  I'd definitely like to see them involved in some future events as well.

All in all, props to the Bastards and to the hell's refs (Who were very active and fair for the whole game).  I try to attend every event you guys put on and I'll definitely be back to smack down our neighbors to the south.

Overall, another great Milsim, as can be expected with the Bastards.

Edit: Removed uncalled for snide remark

Looking to pick up a few things at Geronimo, namely pistol stuff.

Listed in order of priority:
Green Gas
Pistol holster for an M&P 9mm.  Soft or hardshell.
Pistol light - preferably a x300 clone w/ trades
Extra WE Mags for the M&P - 2 or 3.

I'm planning to run this at Both Geronimo and a CQB match eventually.

Please let me know what you've got.

I found a Propane adapter.  Describe it and it yours.

I stepped up as CO mainly because no one else seemed to want to do it.  I personally feel as if this was a mistake since I had never been on this field and had literally no experience as anything other than a squad leader.  I'd like to apologize to the green team for my inability to lead you guys.

As for the actual OP, it was about what I expected going into the event.  Abbot did a good job at briefing getting everyone together and out onto the field.  For his first event hosting, I'd say it was (overall) a success.  (More in depth segment on gameplay at the bottom)

As for the field and it's layout: Screw that.  This field is 100% set up for paintball and I don't think it will ever be useable for anything other than medium/close quarter combat scenario games.  Choke points are everywhere and the inability to flow from one side to the other makes taking the city (or taking the mounds) impossible.  However, this field is set up very well for the games we played later in the day: Quick paced, objective style games.

Personally, I say that the future of this field is mainly in smaller scenario type games or simple TDM style rec games.  I'd also say that the field itself needs to be clear of the hazards outlined above by guts.

Onto the gameplay: Communication all around could have been better.  Objectives themselves were kind of ran through very briefly.  Unfortunately a lot of our failure to complete objectives was on me and how the field was designed.  When we are told to defend a bridge and we can only do it from the side tan is attacking from things are very tricky.  We couldn't spawn on the other side due to the paintballers playing and we couldn't spawn in the area of the bridge without getting hit before we even had a chance.  Were both sides open I feel that would have been a much more even battle.

Also, the layout of the mounds/the village is a lot of fun.  They allow for shooting alley's over ~ 200 ft long all the way done to pistol range.  I think this village would be a great place to host some 10 on 10 games or something of the sort.

Final thoughts:
37 bug bites I can count - really shitty on that part, especially when the only place to go was either off the field to sit down or straight into tan's city (mounds were being used for paintball).  I showered in bug spray and it only gave me about 15 minutes worth of protection due to the heat and sweat.
Next time, I'd recommend starting green and tan on opposite ends of the forrest.  That way the city (and mounds)  can be actively fought for rather than simply attacked/defended.  Green never held the city simply because tan started in it, they were larger and (even through Abbot's efforts to get us to Flank them worked out well for a while there.)
As ZZan pointed out - Safety and Briefing were two things that bugged me. I already know that will improve just because of the feedback given on this thread.

All in all, it was a good first event for Abott.  I'd like to say it would be much easier to get me to come out again if we were playing for longer than 5 or 6 hours though.

Thank you Abbot!

I still need to retrieve my spare stick battery from puma  ;)  )
If I do manage to drag myself out, it will likely be Dice.  Puma can throw me wherever he needs another body.

I'd gladly have a Pajama clad Player on team A.

Also, I've moved - No promises on that stick battery since it's been what, like 2 YEARS.  I'll  take a look though.

Hopefully I'll see you there.

I've got an adapter Snarf.

I'm good with skipping lunch in favor of an on the field snack.
I'm hoping this ends up being a success.  We could use more fields in the Lansing area.

Got some new toys:
Pretty standard Bipod.
G&P 552
G&P 4x32 Acog
Vector Optics Swift 1.25-4.5 Short Dot.

All of them are in good shape.  I wish i would have gone with a more expensive short dot though. This one will definitely do it's job but their $100+ models are much better.  The glass is very clear for a sub 100$ short dot though.  If you're on a strict budget I would definitely say this one is better then the bravo optic.

Airsoft Discussion / Re: Let's get the party started.

I Joined the airsoft community (officially) in 2013 (Jan 30, 2013 at 9:11pm, to be exact).
I had been lurking on the forum since late 2012 and had bought myself a gun in late 2012.

Since then I've probably gone through 12 to 13 guns and a few pistols.  My first real event was a Rec. Game at No Limits where my Mb06 decided to start slam firing right at the beginning of the first round.
I ended up using a Crossman Pulse Mp5 and a plastic shotgun that got lent to me.  Somehow or other I still had fun at that event. My favorite event so far has definitely been Grayling, all politics aside.  While I won't be returning this year for BS it was a really cool atmosphere to be playing in.

That's pretty much everything for me.
