Have permission from the wife to attend this :)

So once registration opens and people start forming squads and such will probably be looking for someone to allow me to tag along with them.

Tech Questions / Re: Paintball e-trigger in an airsoft gun
« on: July 09, 2015, 09:41:03 AM »

Where could I get a e-trigger for a tar 21?

Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

There is nothing called an e-trigger that I am aware of for airsoft. What are you trying to get out of your gun that you think you can get with an e-trigger?

There are MOSFET units that are programmable and may give you the feature(s) you desire, from burst to ramping, and so forth. Though these will be inline with the battery and may not work 100% the way you want.  Some also require/recommend connection to the trigger contacts, so you may have to update/modify the wiring in your gun.

The ones the closest to what you are looking for are specific to V2 and V3 gearboxes.  I don't know if these would be able to be modified to fit into a Tar21 gearbox (I have never seen one, but know that it is not a V2 or V3.)

I recommend a Baofeng UV-5R.  You can get one for around $30.00 on ebay or amazon and they are fully programmable.
I would also buy a Kenwood 2-pin hand mic with privacy port for an earpiece then you have push to talk and can hear everything that is going on.

Are you firing on Semi or Full Auto?

If you fire on Full Auto are the shots consistent or do you see variation?

My guess is that you are overspinning on semi and second shot is a partial cycle.

Are you using an 11.1v lipo?  Try dropping to a 7.4v and see if it still happens.

Airsoft Discussion / Re: New, but too old ?

Welcome!

There are plenty of older players in our group.  I myself am 44 and while we may not be the majority we are not a minority of the player base.
The community is very open and welcoming and will make you feel right at home.
Just check out the events section and see if any games coming up are in your neck of the woods.

Hope to see you on the field.

Digital Entertainment / Re: Thoughts on E3 this year?

My question would be how is this going to be implemented.  Are they going to do something software wise that will allow the XBOne to read 360 discs? or are they going to create downloadable images of 360 games ported to XBOne, with costs waived for anyone that has that game present in their live profile.  My wife has my old 360 and all the games ready to be sold and I want to know if I need to keep the few games that I would like to play on my XBOne for when this happens so that I don't have to buy them again.

I hate when they present content for the sake of presenting something and don't give any useful details about how that is going to be implemented or work so that people can plan accordingly.

$35 was the pre-pay amount.  I believe the pre-pay period has expired and it does indeed now cost $40.

There was a date associated with it at some point.  I know Mosin posted on Facebook before the pre-reg time expired to give everyone a chance to reg before the price went up.

I have the programming cable and the CHIRP software.  I will bring it with me.  (I will make sure to test it before I get there, as last time Windows had updated the driver and replaced it with a newer non-working version)

**** EDIT ****
I have tested my software and cable and all is good to go. There are three versions of the driver installed on my system, but when I choose the correct one it works like a charm.  I will have this with me on Saturday and will be happy to help those that need it.

Accessories & Ammo / Re: Baofeng not transmitting...
« on: June 08, 2015, 03:43:52 PM »
Baofengs have an a/b function.  It could be that when you transmit it is transmitting on the second channel.  Check the little arrows next to the frequencies and see if it switches when you press the transmit button.

Airsoft Discussion / Re: Let's get the party started.

Have been playing paintball since the late 90's.  Had a group of guys from work that organized events every 3-4 weeks, usually at No Limits, Futureball or Hells Survivors.  One of the guys that played with us was into airsoft and kept trying to convert us over from paintball.  Over winter 2013-2014 I actually started talking to him about it and made the plunge and bought a gun and some gear. My first airsoft event was 3/29/2014 at a No Limits game hosted by the Suicide Kings.  Had a great time and was hooked.  Since I have been to several SK No Limits games and Rage/Bastards Hells Survivors games as well as Grayling last year before the Blacksheep/PTSD situation.

While I still have my paintball stuff, I am officially a convert and have no real desire to go back to paintball.  Airsoft is definitely more bang for the buck after you get past the rather large initial investment.

AEG / Re: VFC 416 battery Li-Po suggestion?
« on: April 29, 2015, 09:49:20 AM »
These are the batteries I use.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17285__Turnigy_nano_tech_2000mah_2S_15_25C_Lipo_AIRSOFT_Pack.html

The cells fit in the side tubes.  You can also get the same battery from Hobby King with a deans connector already attached instead of a small tamiya connector.
They are only 2s 7.4v though so if you are looking for 3s batteries I don't know if you can get away without putting something in the buffer tube as well.

They do make them with each cell being wrapped individually so that you could put one cell in each side tube and the third in the buffer tube.
