After Action Reports / Michigan vs. Ohio 11/07/2015
« on: November 08, 2015, 10:07:37 AM »
First off, I had a great time yesterday so a big thanks to Mosin and everyone else who makes these games happen.

Second, since it seems like everyone was talking about this, it was a real bummer the way the field staff gave priority to the paintballers. Basically HS double booked this game with a few groups of paintballers (probably about 50 total) and prevented us from using entire sections of the field for hours on end, causing some serious choke points in the first half of the game. This was kind of a letdown but I understand it was completely beyond anyone's control other than the Hell's survivors staff. The second half more than made up for it to me but I did feel kind of bad for the guys that drove four hours here and had to put up with that.

Other random observations I had were that comms were a mess as always, and HPA users love to spam. Objectives were pretty good and the admins did a good job of adapting on the fly to the situation caused by the paintballers.

Bump. I stand corrected. The belt is a medium. I also added an m4 fb kydex pouch.

I'd like to get in touch with the other guys assigned to my squad but it doesn't look like they are members on MIA or airsoftohio. How many other places is this game being advertised?

Tech Questions / Re: JG Bar 10 Accuracy then Fps Upgrade
« on: November 04, 2015, 08:03:42 PM »
It's good that you recognize the need to do accuracy upgrades before power upgrades, so I think you have a good start there. You will find that some of the same mods that improve your accuracy will also increase your FPS as a side effect because they will improve air seal.

I've owned two VSR 10 variants and worked on a couple others, so I know my way around them pretty well, and I can say with confidence that some of the best mods for the VSR platform are DIYs that may even need to be done with aftermarket parts. I would suggest that you try out some of the basic easy DIYs to begin with in order to see what kind of a difference they make. Add them one by one, and then eventually move on to upgrades until you find the performance you are looking to achieve. Here is the basic rundown of what I think is important on the VSR platform.

1. Air seal. On a stock setup there are 3 main leakage points: piston o ring, cylinder head threads, and hop up bucking. If you search for vsr air seal mods you will find the common fixes for all of these points. But to get you started I'd recommend you search for anti blow-by rings, Teflon mods, and new o rings IIRC the piston o ring is size #13.
2. Hop up and barrel. You can try polishing the stock barrel and just upgrading the bucking, or go straight to an upgraded barrel. PDI and Laylax (Prometheus) are widely regarded as the best VSR barrels. A tighter bore barrel will also boost your fps as well. As for buckings, most soft buckings will be a good upgrade over stock. Nineball is one of the preferred ones, but I had good results with just a cheap lonex one.
3. Good bbs. This is constantly being debated but you definitely want something over .30. Goldenball, bioval, and bioshots are all good. There may be some others out there by now that I haven't kept up on though.
3. Power. If you get the airseal right you will find that VSR springs are underrated. I gained about 50 fps on my last VSR 10 clone just by doing airseal mods. If you want to get into the mid to high 400s I'd say go with a 130 spring and a new barrel as well as the obvious airseal mods.

Hopefully this gives you a good start. Back in the day a guy on airsoftretreat by the name of Noobie came up with a bunch of very innovative upgrades/DIYs for the VSR platform so I'd highly recommend you take a look at his stuff. I don't think he is around anymore but all the information should be there.

Airsoft Discussion / Re: Versatile Plate Carrier Ideas?
« on: November 03, 2015, 08:04:22 PM »
I always advocate for real gear, and not airsoft replica gear, except for a couple exceptions such as Semapo. I personally have a Crye JPC and I really like it, but your budget is kind of low for a decent plate carrier setup IMO. Is that $120 budget for everything (plate carrier and pouches) or just the plate carrier? Plate carriers always seems to cost a bit more that equivalent quality chest rigs, and if budget is an issue I'd much sooner recommend a high quality chest rig than an cheap plate carrier. AWS is a lesser known company that makes very high quality gear for military contracts. A lot of their stuff uses the design of other brands such as Eagle Industries, but I believe this is because they fill in contracts when the original manufacturer is not able to supply enough. They are definitely not a replica company. A friend of mine got the AWS split front chest rig which is the same design as the Eagle MPCR, and I am very impressed with the quality. For the price it simply can't be beat, and it gives you the option to mount whatever pouches you want, unlike many other chest rigs.

Mayflower also has some great chest rigs if you are open to the idea of something other than a plate carrier.

Maybe it is a medium. I'll have to check when I get a chance, it's been sitting in a box for the last few months. It fits me fine and I wear a 32r.

It's exactly what is pictured in the link above. Molle belt with removal pads + a stiff inner belt. This does not replace a pants belt or a riggers belt. No pouches are included, by 'battle belt' I just meant molle belts in general. I decided to just stick with a riggers belt for my holster and run everything else on my plate carrier.

Thanks man, I'm digging your kit too! Very similar setup to mine. Are those CP combats or replicas? I like the look.

Stinger, looking good as well, looks very mobile and practical. Your kits have progressed very nicely!

Tis a said day when these boards become a grave yard of information.

I couldn't agree more. I think forums are an excellent way to establish a community as opposed to social media groups. Social media is constantly changing whereas a forum is more fixed, which in my opinion is one of it's strengths. Just because the format is different it doesn't make a forum out of date. The forum doesn't exist to serve the fleeting needs of 14 year olds who only want to buy and sell stuff or ask which gun has the most FPS. It's a place where people can share years of cumulative experience in a format that is easily accessible to people in the future. It promotes community and its rules help weed out people who don't want to contribute or participate respectfully, whereas the same can't really be said for social media.

Figured I'd try to revive this. Here's a shot of most of my kit from a few months back, no current pics of my complete loadout unfortunately.

Crye JPC w/ Crye LW Pouches
TMC Airframe w/ Crye Accessories/anvis setup
VFC 416
TM/Guarder G17 w/ x300 and Safariland 6354DO

Hey guys, I'm looking to offload my Crye Low Profile Belt in Multicam, size medium. I bought it from Legionaire in the spring and never used it. It may have been lightly used previously but is in like new condition. I decided I don't care much for the battle belt setup and I want to use the funds to finish up my loadout. I'll let it go for $170. Pics upon request. PM me with any questions.

I also found an eagle m4 fb pouch in multicam. Like new condition. I'll let it go for $35.

I'll also entertain trades of all types but I tend to be pretty picky. I'm mainly looking for a backpack (yote/btap) in multicam but I may consider other things so offer up.

Airsoft Discussion / Where Did Everyone Go?
« on: November 02, 2015, 03:26:03 PM »
Hey Guys, ever since the transition to the new forum I've been a bit out of the loop since I've been distracted with other things outside of airsoft, so I've been mostly absent on the forum for the past few months. I notice that every time I log on here it seems pretty dead though, so I figured I'd ask if anyone knows what is going on? Michigan6mm seems pretty empty as well. Did all of the long time MIA members just move on, or is there another board or something that I'm just not aware of?

Anyway, I'll be at the MIA vs. Ohio game this weekend (on the Ohio side though, I don't own woodland camo and don't have time to scramble any up before Saturday) so I'm excited to get back out on the field again. Looks like there should be a good turnout so maybe everyone has just been lurking like me.

1. SOLD Crye multicam G3 combat pants in 32R. Like new. I just prefer my ACs instead so i don't need these. $160 OBO. SOLD

2. Eagle multicam m4 FB pouch. Cordura kind, not the printed webbing kind. Also like new. $45 OBO.
