So I am later to the party. A few questions. One registration still open. Two driving 3 hours to do this event is there free camping onsite.

1.) Look at Mosin's post right before yours.

2.) Yes, there is free camping on-site.

This question has probably been beaten over your head via PM's, but I haven't seen it yet. Are we able to get EG67's at this event? I saw the cold smokes available, but it would be sweet if the squad could run some frags. I assume no because they aren't listed, but I am being hopeful tbh.
We will not be selling frags as of right now.

Would the admission price be any different if I am able to attend for just one day? (I am unavailable on Sunday.)
It would not. If you were to only play Saturday, that would still entail you taking one of the limited player spots in the event. It would be unfair for you to pay half-price and potentially prevent another person (willing to pay full-price and play the entire event) from getting a spot.

Those of you that need TQs, please send $8.00 to BastardsMilsim@Gmail.com for every MSW tourniquet you wish to buy and have waiting for you at Operation Fading Light. We purchased a bulk order outright, so basically after the first 40 are gone we'll need to potentially make another order.

There will be ~8 Bastards showing up, including myself. Many of us have already confirmed on Facebook.

As far as performance goes, it largely depends on the role you want to play. An LMG should have a good rate of fire and solid, consistent FPS, as well as the ability to fire long bursts without issue. A DMR should have long range and put out enough energy to use higher weight BBs which will not deflect in the wind. Both of these are niche roles and as such you have to devote your kit to them.
You seem to be gravitating more towards a rifleman role, which should be capable in short and medium ranges. I recommend having just below 350 FPS with a 0.20-gram BB so that you can achieve the shortest MED allowed. Keep your barrel as short as possible. The range a 300mm barrel achieves will vary wildly based on the components behind it.
Whatever you end up using, it should be consistent and reliable over long periods of time in rough conditions.

Tech Questions / Re: Motor winding questions
« on: October 11, 2016, 11:15:29 PM »
Each individual wire does not carry the full amperage. It's distributed by the commutator.
The reason why more windings creates more torque is because you generate a more powerful magnetic field (running a current through any wire generates a magnetic field, more wires means a more powerful field).
Higher TPA motors generate less heat because they pull less amperage, which is also why they're more efficient. The magnetic field is stronger, so less amperage is required.
I've never seen failures on the armature because, while you do have small diameter wires, they're bundled. Keep in mind that for large industrial applications (thousands of amps), power cables are made of bundled wires. The concept is the same. The more likely point of failure is at the motor brushes.

The benefit would be a larger gauge can carry more amperage. You typically don't run into issues with this in motors, however, as you'll blow the commutator or brushes before the windings go if current is too high.
I'm curious to see what you find out, though. I wish I had the time to play around with tech stuff again. Winter break, perhaps...

Also, if you haven't already, watch my video about motors:

Airsoft Discussion / Re: Rations - Do I Have to Eat That?

My question here is how "in-character" for a lack of a better term you guys like to be. Some of us on the reenacting side for non-air-soft love to eat period food when we are in uniform, and I was wondering if any of you guys did this when in milsim events.
I take out freeze-dried food packs (typically the Mountain House Pro-Paks) and use a Jetboil to boil water that is used to reconstitute the freeze-dried food. It's way better than an MRE. Whether or not that's considered any kind of "period food" I don't know. I've seen some pictures of Marines with Jetboils, but I don't know how widespread that is.

OP: Blacksheep at camp grayling in May and northern lights in June.
And...potentially...MSW at Grayling.

Oh man, I want that event to happen so much. Is there any official information about it? Or just rumors?
There is a very firm yes from a MSW cadre member that it will happen late August.
