Off Topic / Re: What do you do for a living?
« on: September 21, 2017, 09:38:50 AM »
I'm an office worker.  Most of my life I have been in the Restaurant industry.  Pizza Hut, Applebee's, YUM!, Domino's, Bloomin' Brands. At Pizza Hut I started as an hourly employee and worked up to store manager and later a "fixer-upper" basically the area coach sent me to stores that were having issues to get them back on track.  Left that to work for Corning, Inc.  Which is the only job I have had where I actually used my college education (Engineering Physics).  Worked at Applebee's for a short time after I got laid off from Corning.  Then got an offer from YUM! and worked there installing and supporting back office systems for Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, Long John Silvers and A&W.  Left there to go to Domino's home office in Ann Arbor where I did basically the same thing, but only had one brand to deal with which was a much better quality of life.  Now I work at Bloomin' Brands in Tampa, FL started out in a similar role here but now I am a manager of Technology Innovation for Off-Premise Dining.  Fancy way of saying I am in charge of all the technology that we put into our stores in terms of to-go, and delivery, taking care of customers that aren't eating inside the restaurants themselves.  Downside is that I am back to dealing with multiple brands (Outback, Carrabba's, Bonefish Grille, Flemings Prime Steakhouse) that can't ever find a middle ground and work with each other pleasantly.

The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear (Kingkiller Chronicles) by Patrick Rothfuss (though no one knows when the third book is going to come out.  Seems Patrick is taking notes from George R. R. Martin on how to stay in the spotlight in spite of not releasing the next volume of your series)
The Martian - Andy Weir -- Fast paced, quick read, very entertaining and well written. Much better than the movie
The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (finished by Brandon Sanderson after Jordan's death) -- Very good series it loses its way a little around books 10 or 11, but this is likely due to Jordan's terminal illness since these were the last books he released before his death, Brandon Sanderson was chosen by him and completed the series using Jordan's outlines and wishes)
A Song of Ice and Fire (the series Game of Thrones is based on) - Very good series, very brutal, much better than the TV show, though George R. R. Martin takes forever to release new books.  It took him over 5 years to release the last one, and it has been several years since that one was released (so long that the show itself caught up and passed the point where the real story was written to)
The books series that SyFy's show the expanse is based on by James S. A. Corey (first book is Leviathan Wakes)

I tend to fog everything up as well.  Which is why I always run one of these: Cyclone Mike Devices. Though I think I bought mine from Amazon and not from Evike.

Works great for everything, Oakley M-Frames, Revision goggles, etc.

That looks outstanding.  Is the one in your picture of edges finished or not?

Either way that is worth the higher price you have listed.  I, personally, would be good either way.  I think it would wear/age well and come out great.

Why not just get Oakley M frames for the same price? I've nothing but good abou their glasses. They were my primary option before I got contacts, which is the way to go.

Where did you see Oakley M-Frames with prescription lenses for that price?

I personally wear M-Frames w/helo kit with contacts, and agree that they are an excellent choice for eyewear.  However I have only seen single vision prescription lenses for them for over $300.00, nothing affordable enough for airsoft only use. I would definitely be interested in finding cheaper prescription lenses for them.

Revision and ESS both sell inserts that can have corrective lenses put in them for inside their goggles.

ESS
Revision Click the Specs tab to see which goggles the inserts work for

I would also caution you on specialty lenses.  Make sure they are ANSI spec before you buy.  Most of the "fancy" lenses you can get to fit goggles/shooting glasses on eBay and Amazon for cheap are NOT ANSI rated and could shatter/break if hit with an airsoft BB.

Typically the above brands come with options for clear, tinted and yellow/high contrast lenses all of which are properly rated. Mirrored and aftermarket is where you run into issues.

You could always do a MacGuyver of parts to achieve the same result:
This Rail attachment
with this bubble level attached to it.

Or something similar

I have the standard Semi only KWA ATP and I love it.  No issues at all with it.

Also each of the major manufacturers make an insert that can be prescription filled and inserts into their goggles.

The one that goes with the goggles you have linked above is:
P-2B Rx Insert
or
U-Rx Insert

Tech Questions / Re: Semi Auto Not functioning VMG74
« on: April 05, 2016, 04:06:19 PM »
I had this issue with my G-36C version 3 gearbox.

In my case I just needed to replace the cut-off lever.  I could not see any wear or obvious issue with the one that was there, but the issue went away with the new cut-off lever.
I did put the old cut-off lever in another V3 gearbox and the issue followed it, so I am fairly confident that the lever was the issue, just not sure why.  Not sure if there just isn't that much tolerance between new and worn or what.

The issue I had was no matter if selector was in semi or auto, it would fire full auto.  If you aren't getting anything on Semi it's probably not the same thing.

I am a big fan of the Evike BAMF mags.  They work great in both my M4's and my son and daughter's M4's. You can purchase them individually, in packs of 5 or packs of 10.

I use a shoulder mike, but it has a privacy port on it and I have an earpiece running from it so the mic is never used as a speaker.  If your shoulder mike doesn't have a privacy port you can replace it with one that does for around $10.00 on ebay, that should get rid of your concerns around someone talking when you are trying to hide.  The Baofengs are solid radios.  They are a little tricky to program with the CHIRP software due to the fact that you have to downgrade the usb to serial cable driver to an older version because Windows wants to auto-install a newer version that isn't compatible. Other than that they are great to work with.  You don't need the software to program them, you can do it all from the keypad on the radio, the software just makes it easy if your entire team uses the same radio and you want everyone set up the same quickly and easily.
