Well I'll apologize for the photo since it's indoors on my bench at the moment. But I just picked up an EO Tech clone and this is a first for me in clone optics. Crazy as it is I've owned oodles of guns over the years but very few optics. I picked this one up used from here had a few problems, wouldn't turn off etc. Well I couldn't help myself so I tossed it on the gun and it worked but the up button wasn't working nor the NV mode(I knew this so not sellers fault by any stretch). I considered leaving it be and using it but I have a hard time having broken things not working. So I tore into it, resoldered all the connections that were broken, fixed the windage and elevation adjustors and cleaned it up internally. Then reassembled and it's all 100% functional again and I'm quite pleased with the end results especially for what I've got in it;)

So I'll be rocking this on a few guns here and there and decide what I'll leave it on but for now it's on my primary M4. I tried it on the stubby but this version is actually pretty dang long and with the flip up sights it just wasn't happening without fiddling and it wasn't worth it so back to my old red dot for that and EO Tech clone on this one.

Take care!

Tech Questions / Re: DIY Chronograph

Understandable this one is functional but it's not what I'd call durable as it stands with exposed wiring etc etc. So my next one will be allot more robust and built to take more of a beating and last;) This one will likely become my shop chrono that will stay in here but I'll still do some wire routing and whatnot to make it durable to a degree with a battery holder, switch and likely just panels covering it in a box form. But at least the proof of concept works;)

Well I'm not sure enough that any of my guns are that consistent. So the +-reading I gave is how much I varied without wild shots where I hit the wall of the tubing and lost 100fps;) That said I got pretty consistent results with some guns my g36 was pretty stable in the 360's for allot of shots but I don't know the accuracy but I can't imagine it's any better but it seems good enough.

I'd love to see your setup I'm planning more prototypes along with a more compact version and a battery holder and switch ;) getting fancy.

Take care!

Tech Questions / DIY Chronograph

This is a continuation of the thread here: http://miairsoft.proboards.com/thread/50895/diy-chronograph

Well guys working prototype;) And I'm thrilled with the results so far. Please do note this is the try after the photoresistors using photodiodes since the previous attempt didn't work I decided to build this quick and dirty rather than nicely. The only thing I really did right was solder all the connections etc;) Otherwise it's a piece of pipe with a couple holes drilled into it, and two pieces of wood;)

But it works and not only that the results are pretty dang close to what I suspected they should be for guns. I tested 15 or so guns across it, and for the most part I'm seeing consistent results and about what I expected. IE My CA M15A4 that I've just gone through and fixed things on running with an m120 spring is shooting 403+- 5. My M14 was a little bit of a surprise since it's running very close to 450fps with some drops here and there I'd say +-10fps right now. Which makes some sense though it's an m120 spring it's a full cylinder with a long barrel so the BB has a fair amount of time to accelerate. My Sniper rifle is coming in at 470 with an M150 Spring in there, which could be a bit low for that spring being a TM gun but I may not have a perfect air seal on the hopup there, as well it's the stock short gspec barrel which is likely to go up some in FPS because of joule creep occurring. GBB's all fell in the range of 280-320 which with the cold temps in my shop right now makes pretty good sense to me. My CYMA AEP ran right in the 210fps range which again makes some sense to where it should be. My stubby M4 came in dang close to 350fps which is what it's quoted factory speeds are. My G36 fell a little lower than expected but I'm not sure the spring in it, felt like an m120 but could have been less.

So photodiodes and matching IR LED's will make a diy chrono, I'll include more info and picture once I build a pretty version of this;)

Take care!

Tech Questions / Re: Should I flat hop?
« on: April 23, 2015, 11:04:03 AM »
I'm not sure on flat hops, I've reverted to them a few times when having trouble rhopping. Thus far my experiences say that rhop is more consistent at least from what I've been seeing. Range absolute looks to be close but not quite as far as an rhop and requires allot more pressure to get hop. So I'd say it's between a normal bucking and an rhop in results.

Well in light of that bug I just made Michiganairsoft.org redirect to miairsoft.org so other guys shouldn't have any more trouble with that problem:) So one bug down a million little ones to go;)

Thanks for the help guys at least it wasn't a hard one to fix;)

Hey Timm nope on the Moderator status, I just haven't gotten all the guys that did individual boards back into their roles yet. And any other guys reading this if you had mod status just shoot me a PM and what boards you were doing and I'll make it happen for ya.

Hmm that makes some sense, I'll look into it and I'll do some testing using the Michiganairsoft.org site link, I may just have to turn that into a domain forward to make the whole site happy.

When I first fired up this site only the Miairsoft.org was working for a week or so till the transfer of the longer domain completed. So likely most of us that have been helping setup the site are all running the shorter name since that's what we used for the first bit. And for myself at least I've been typing miairsoft.* for so long that adding an org instead of a .proboards isn't too much of a change in my typing;)

I've been looking at it but it's still 100% working here for me. If possible keep an eye on anything that might be a trigger on your machine or if you've got another machine try logging in there and see if it sticks. I'm just trying to figure out any variables that might be causing it but you two are the first I've heard of an issue so it might take some fiddling to figure out what's going on.

I think though if it were something on the server it would be doing it to all of us unless there is something common between you two as far as browser or plugin etc.

Well I'm wordy but I'll try and keep this short. I started researching then playing in 2003 came to MIA and a bunch of places that are gone now like Airsoft Players, etc. Picked up a Tokyo Marui M16A2 as my first airsoft gun, then shortly after a KWA Glock 19 and it spiraled from there;) I've kept just about all of the guns I've bought over the years, other than a few I bought for parts or repaired and sold. But all but a handful are still in my collection today 12+ years later. Living in the UP there was little to no airsoft anywhere around here, and being an older guy even then I was 20(compared to some people who started much younger). I started organizing games and buying more guns to lend out to get more players. I also started going to allot of the events downstate when time and money allowed. So I played with quite a few of the guys and teams that are no more back in those days.

Then I got roped into helping a buddy of mine with his stepson's birthday party after not playing for I'm not sure how long over 6 years under 10. And well here I am, back addicted to airsoft and playing as often as I can. Organizing games up here again, playing with a group that has sprung up semi local to me with a fair sized player base. And allot slower than 10 years ago even though I no longer smoke(guys who remember me from games I always had a cigarette hanging from my mouth while playing). So I'm enjoying it again and trying my best to not get burnt out organizing games, and playing other people's games to keep interested.

The verification only lasts for 10 either pm's or posts don't recall which. But basically it should stop people from spamming the forum by creating a new account and sending pm's to everyone.

Thanks it's old school the paint is 10+ years old now;) That's actually the same lower just with another upper on there. I'm planning on painting the upper to match once I get all the little things ironed out with that change. Though that said I might end up just building a second lower and making a complete second gun out of it. Haven't decided yet which direction to take it;)

Having log in duration set to forever doesn't seem to be working correctly.
Running on Chrome as a page set to open on Chrome start up.

Might be a machine based issue, might not hurt to clear out your cookies and whatnot. Thus far I've only had to log in pretty much once per machine with the forever setting.
