Off Topic / Re: POST any bugs or issues about the new site HERE

As long as the other mods are on the same page I'd be happy to make a new section for it.

The Gallery / Luke's gun thread
« on: April 17, 2015, 08:04:18 PM »
Well guys figured I'd update this thread by creating it here again. And I took another picture of my CA M15A4 in it's normal configuration rather than the DMR type of setup.

M15A4 DMR of sorts

Standard setup that I've been running for years.

When I get some time I'll take some more of the rest of my old school collection. That M15A4 is from around 2003-2004 or so.

Seller/Buyer Ratings / New Buyer and Seller Feedback system READ THIS!
« on: April 16, 2015, 10:58:53 PM »
Hey guys we've got a new feedback system in place, it won't carry over older feedback so feel free to create threads linking your old info from the old site. But now you can click on a username and then click "submit feedback for so and so" and see their feedback as well as leave new feedback through this system. Should make it easier when browsing a commerce thread to click on a persons name and see their feedback rather than having to hunt for it.

Take care!

Nah keep it up since it's got a link to all your other feedback for guys from the old Mia since chances are the new system will just be sales and buys going forward.

Take care!

Also include your existing Mia name just in case it's not the same as before. And I'll do them as time permits IE if I get a thousand then it might take a day or two to get them done. So be patient but if you send me a PM about it I'll get it squared away for ya.

For new feedback other users can click on your username then click the link that says "Submit feedback for simon" as well and that will keep it all under your username going forward. New feature we added to the site;)

Michigan Commerce - Airsoft Guns Allowed / Commerce Rules.
« on: March 10, 2015, 07:04:58 PM »
You can sell guns again, so feel free to post but follow the rules.

Please use WTB, WTS, FS, or WTT in the subject heading, this helps speed and accuracy on what you want to give or get!!
FS= For Sale
WTB= Want To Buy
WTS= Want To Sell
WTT= Want To Trade

If you have sold something/gotten rid of it, or are no longer offering it on these forums please put SOLD or DELETE ME in your subject's heading (just go to the top post, edit it - it has to be your post you started) and I or another moderator will take care of it.

If you have multiple items to sell, but miss them in the initial post, please list them in your most recent active thread. You may use the modify button to edit the description and message in your first post of the thread. Then add a reply to the thread to bump it back to the top. This will help to keep all recent listings on -Page 1-. Do not bump a thread more than once in any 24 hour period. You may engage in conversation when addressed, but successive posts count as bumping. Again, to add information to an existing thread without bumping it, modify the original post.

If you want to add a second thread for items you want to buy that is permissible. Please limit yourself to no more than two (2) active commerce threads at any given time, one for selling and one for buying. In fairness to other sellers/buyers, please limit the number of your active commerce threads so all recent listings will be visible on -Page 1-.
(Edit-frostee, 12/29/07)

Thanks.

Addendum: This thread is for players to sell guns out of their personal collections. If you're trying to make a business out of selling guns, your posts belong in the reseller announcements forum.

Addendum: 1 bump per 24 hour period.

Addendum: Threads marked SOLD or DELETE ME, will be locked and deleted after 24hr period.

Forum Rules / Forum Sigs
« on: March 10, 2015, 04:18:40 PM »
Seems like signature image size is getting a little bit out of hand. There's no reason why others must be forced to view/load your gigantic works of art.

Starting today I will be enforcing a sig size limit. The Maximum sig image size will be 350x60 pixels, which is more than enough room to make something flashy.

Animated gifs or flash movies may be used as sigs granted thier file size remains relatively small. (Maximum file size to be determined)

Thank You!

Forum Rules / Deleting your own posts
« on: March 10, 2015, 04:18:03 PM »
After much frustration and little discussion, we've decided to add a new rule. Deleting the first post in a thread will now get you a warning. When somebody deletes the first post in a thread, it renders that thread useless, and any information that you guys have taken the effort to add to that thread almost always gets lost without context. This is easily as disruptive to the board as derailing a thread or making an unreadable post, so from here on out, it'll get the same treatment.

I know a lot of people delete their post because they think it'll delete the thread. It doesn't. So if you'd like a thread deleted, just ask one of the mods and we'll get rid of it for you.

Forum Rules / Warning Levels
« on: March 10, 2015, 04:17:37 PM »
Because we are foolishly lenient mods, we currently use a four strike system. Each time we need to warn someone about a violation of forum rules, we increment that user's warning level by 25%. The first two warnings (25% and 50%) carry no additional consequences. When you get to 75%, you get a seven day ban. When you get to 100%, you get permanently banned.

Mods have the discretion to not give out any warning points, or in particular circumstances, to go beyond the specified punishments. If you join and your very first post is hardcore porn on the general discussion thread, we're not going to give you a chance to make a second post.

Warning levels do not go down through any automated process. Mods have the discretion to lower them as a reward for continued good behavior or other contributions to the forum. This is at our discretion only. PMing us to ask to have your warning level lowered is far more likely to frustrate us than get us to bump you down. If you're making positive contributions, we will take notice. Remember that unless you get that fourth strike, even a 75% warning level doesn't limit your ability to participate here after your temp ban is over, so your warning level should not be a big deal. Edit: When I say contributions to this forum, I don't mean everyday ordinary posts. I mean putting something up that significantly enriches the Michigan airsoft community.

On our private moderator forum, we discuss bans and other punishments. We do not act frivolously, although sometimes we do find ways to entertain ourselves and other forum members along the way. There have been occasions, some recently, where we've gone lighter or harder on a given member after talking it over.

Forum Rules / Special rules for airsoft businesspeople
« on: March 10, 2015, 04:17:12 PM »
We've been asked to clarify the rules for how owners & staff of airsoft business can use the forum as a promotional venue. We don't want to be unfriendly to those people - they're essential to the sport - but we also want to keep the focus of this site on the Michigan airsoft community and keep commerce at arms' length.

    If you are affiliated with an airsoft retail, distribution, or manufacturing business in any way, you may only promote your business in Retailer Announcements.
    If you are affiliated with an airsoft field, you may promote events at your field only in Airsoft Events.
    If your business is both a retailer or wholesaler and a field, it's fine to cross-promote the sales side in an event post, but not to put event announcements in Retailer Announcements.
    Posts outside those boards may include casual references to your work ("At the store we see a high return rate on those" is fine) but no advertisements, solicitation of business, or discussion of pricing ("Yes, that's a good gun, stop by the store and we'll set you up" would be unacceptable).
    Members not affiliated with any business may refer to such businesses as appropriate. To pick an obvious example, if a retailer loans you a gun to review, you're free to acknowledge the retailer in your review. Such mentions may include links but should not include any sort of graphics, including but not limited to logos and banner ads. The idea is to acknowledge the help you received from a retailer, no more, no less.

Forum Rules / Forum Rules/Guidelines
« on: March 10, 2015, 04:15:50 PM »
Welcome to the MiA forum rules/guidelines. This is a reminder of the guidelines we have established for this forum, in order to keep it running smoothly. If you have a problem with any of these guidelines, then we must quite simply request you post elsewhere. Thanks. Note that these are not the only rules! Many boards have their own specific rules, listed in threads stuck near the tops of those boards. Read before you post!

1 - Please use specific thread topics. The topic of your thread should let the reader know what the thread is about. Mods have full authority to re-title threads, but we would rather you took care of this yourself.

2 - Put threads in the right place. Wanted to sell / buy / trade threads must go in Commerce. Don't post about airsoft in Off Topic. We're not going to punish anyone for asking about AEG brands in AEG vs newbie questions, but if you go blatantly off topic, you'll get a warning. Just to make it clear, any attempt to sell gear outside of commerce will get you a warning. Don't drop into gear or gun threads to mention that you have an appropriate item for sale. The most we'll tolerate is a general "good deals on used gear can often be found in the Commerce board."

3 - Be polite to other members and leave thread moderation to the moderators. If you want to tell someone to do a search, you must also provide an answer to their question. If you cannot, then do not post on the topic. Brief responses only saying to do a search will be deleted on sight. "In before the lock," "this thread sucks," and similar boorish behavior will result in warnings (and then bans, as dictated by our usual policies). If you have a real problem with a post, don't get involved, just use the "report to mod" button and let the forum staff sort it out.

4 - Any racist/sexist/abusive language will be deleted by mods or cleverly edited to make you seem silly. So please avoid it. This includes language implying that homosexuality is bad, such as the use of "gay" or "fag" as insults. Note that this rule does not foreclose other punishments for such language, including warnings or summary bans if warranted.

5 - Please use the 'Modify' button to edit your posts instead of creating a new post directly after the old one. Any attepmts to raise postcount by consecutive multiposts will result in a banning.

6 - The mods have the ability to either delete a post or thread immediately, or lock it and give 24 hour notice prior to deletion. It is up to the mod how they want to handle this.

7 - Please use proper spelling, capitalization, grammar, and punctuation. Not only will you get your message across much clearer, but other forum members might actually be able to reply to your post instead of trying to decipher your enigmatic nonsense.

8 - Please do not post on "dead" threads unless you have something genuinely new, constructive, and useful to add. This applies to any threads that have been left dormant for two weeks or longer. Exceptions include Commerce threads that have not been declared as inactive, Retailer Reviews threads, and Buyer/Seller Ratings threads.

9 - If you're unhappy about forum moderation, PM an admin and state your case. Public complaining about moderation will be dealt with at the moderators' discretion, which includes summary bans. Our usual warning system doesn't mean everyone gets three free chances to tee off on their least favorite moderator.

Any complaints about any mods or anything else should be filed directly to me, in private, not in the forums.

Any questions on this, ask me.
