Tech Questions / Wolverine Inferno Inconsistency
« on: March 25, 2016, 10:18:02 PM »
Hey everyone,

It's probably something stupid that i'm looking over, but my newly purchased Wolverine inferno is madly inconsistent.

So here's the issue. Whenever I shoot, the gun either extremely overhops, underhops to the point where it dives into the ground after ~50 feet. Or, it will curve left or right with no pattern. The issue is, that this is with the same r-hopped hopup-barrel assembly that with my AEG lower on the same upper, shoots ~230 feet with laser accuracy.
By the way, I use .25's and .32's when testing, both have the same effect.

I've adjusted the dwell, and the PSI, checked every seal inside the unit itself for leaks, made sure that the reg was cleaned and that the seals inside were proper and lubed. I also made sure that the nozzle wasn't being restricted in the hop up, and that the mating between the nozzle head and the bucking was proper.

If you have any suggestions or thoughts please tell, i'm completely stumped.

Tech Questions / Re: DIY cycle completion mosfet?
« on: March 21, 2016, 09:29:43 PM »
The idea is that when the trigger is only slightly pulled, that the gearbox would automatically cycle all of the way through. If you just have a mosfet, it doesn't do the job of cycle completion. The idea with the timer is that it bypasses the trigger contacts and sends a continuous signal to the inline mosfet past the initial trigger pull. This way the mosfet would send energy to the motor even after the trigger is released. This would be done with a small potientiometer on the timer.

Edit: DigiKey is confusing, can't find the timer i'm looking for. RIP. I'm sure you can see what i'm talking about, but the more that I try and make a schematic, the more that I see that this isn't as plausible as it seems. It for sure would work, but to make a pcb, buy all of the really small parts and somehow mount them all inside a gearbox shell is really awkward. Probably easier to just get an 11.1 and shim your gears.

Edit2: If anyone actually wants to do this, PM me and i'll send the schematic and parts list.

Tech Questions / Re: Polar star questions
« on: March 20, 2016, 05:25:15 PM »
Something I've noticed is that all of these hpa engines, whether it be polarstar, inferno, mk2, etc, don't use a beveled nozzle like most aeg manufactures do. I was seeing problems with this on my inferno, where the nozzle would have about a .5mm play to either side while meshing with the hopup unit. I'm not sure if this is the case with a prowin, but it was causing a lot of consistency problems if the o ring wasn't properly sealing.

Other things I can think of is inconsistencies in hopup pressure, it could just mean that you need to tighten the hopup arm adjustment knob screw.

Another thing I can think of is your regulator not providing consistent fps. Depending on your regulator it may just not be broken in, or it was over lubed, which is quite normal if you purchased from amped.

I'm going to draw a schematic and include a parts list tomorrow.

This is super interesting, and it could be really cool if it works. My thought is that all you would need is an inline potentiometer for the 555 timer, which would control a small switch, which would probably be very similar to those on hpa trigger boards. Then that stitch is just connected to the mosfet, which is also inline. Then all you would need to do is turn the potentiometer to adjust the cycle time.

Lol this actually would work.

I'm currently SMP'ing (Inferno'ing, w/e) an A&K Masada, not as easy as it sounds to get all of the selector stuff to work as it should. I've already R-Hopped the barrel, fitted the gearbox, gotten an upgraded hopup, etc. Hoping it will turn out well as every single Masada I have owned has given me trouble somehow.

Christmas bump!

Personally I thought that Battlefront 3 looked great. The Frostbite engine is sooooo nice.
