After Action Reports / SCEN: Operation Throwdown III 6/24/2017 AAR
« on: June 26, 2017, 02:42:10 PM »

Oh boy where do I start with this? This was my first event in two years and it was a blast. I don't even know how to properly format an After Action Report anymore.

Anyways lets get into it.

The Good

- The objectives were great and really lent themselves to the 3 team system nicely. At no point did I feel any team had an inherent advantage. Although Green and Tan had to work together to exchange drugs for cash at various times in the game, there was still plenty of fighting between us. I was expecting an early truce to push in the DEA and was worried that the game would basically just be Green and Tan spawn camping the DEA, while a truce did happen at one point because the DEA had gained a lot of ground, it was quickly broken because the Objectives required us to betray each-other to win.

There were also plenty of side objectives other than making the exchanges, your standard run of the mill capture control points and each side had the option to raid the others stash for extra cash or product, with the DEA being immune to this, any cash or product captured by them was out of the game.  The Cartel made most of our points by raiding Tan. Props to The Wombats for using field knowledge to navigate their though the forest and constantly hitting Tan.

- The playerbase seemed to be a mix of experienced and newer players. The experienced ones took up the mantel of leading newer players willingly and led to a positive learning experience for all the younger kids and teenagers on the field. I can expect each and every one of them will be out to the field again at some point. I'm glad they have a positive first experience into airsoft; it really helps foster the growth of the sport.

- Radio communication was decent. Those who had radios utilized them. While my squad was mostly pulling security in the rear of the field by the Re Education Center and Roadblocks, a massive firefight broke out in the town around The Depot, Hatfield and McCoy and based on the radio chatter, they were able to effectively take those positions due to communication.  Map for referance

- The weather was calling for rain but it didn't happen until Saturday night after the game was concluded. Not that the event host had anything to do with that but I am pleased with how the weather turned out.

- The field. TC Paintball in Copemish is roughly 55 acres however with how thick the woods are, it can feel a lot smaller or bigger depending on where you are at. All and All I love this field and can say it now ranks in my favorite fields I have played at. It has something for everyone, especially when you are using the whole field.

- The field was completely reserved for airsoft. No shuffling us between areas because some paintballers decided to show up for some open play or had reservations. This was nice because I have seen so many fields put paintballers above airsofters and it really ruins the game when a critical area of the field is cut off for play. This, along with a back injury, is one of the main reasons I quit airsoft. I've been to too many events I've paid good money for just to have a 1/3rd of the field cut off and combat be bogged down just because the only way to advance is either straight up a cliff or through an open field surrounded by hills. No thanks. So round of applause to the owner treating us with respect. Very few paintball fields let us have the entire field unmolested for the entire weekend.

- Turnout was good, 89 players. Plenty of attendees from down state. A couple of the guys who run Kalamazoo Airsoft were on the DEA. Was cool to see familiar faces after not playing for two years.

- Free HPA fills! Cheap Tank rentals. I rented a HPA tank for my Tippmann M4. 6 bucks for the day, topped my 2 Co2 tanks off before I left was well for free. Not sure if 6 bucks for renting an HPA tank is normal at most fields but if it is, I'm not going to buy my own anytime soon.

- Semi Only event. Honestly I prefer this. It makes support weapons so much more valuable

- The revive system was pretty straight forward, everyone gets one tourniquet, once its used you can't use it again until you return to a spawn.

Now for the bad

- Chrono. This wasn't a big issue but they are moving over to a system that allows players to chrono with there own BB's. A lot of events are doing that now because joule creep, however they are using paintball chrono's that just measure FPS, not BB weight or joules. I was shooting .30's out of my Tippmann at 310 fps and was cleared for Arms length. That's roughly 380fps with .20's. I obviously should have had a 20ft engagement distance. Now this isn't a big deal since its a semi only event but all it takes is that one player to break the rules and light someone up full auto at 400fps from three feet away. At that point you just kick said player out. This is something I brought up to the event host and is something that should be worked out. All it takes is just ordering a couple chrono's on evike that allow you to dial in BB weight that comp for it. Next game hopefully they will be full converted to chronoing by Joules and not FPS.

- Fogging goggles. Michigan has been hit pretty hard with rainstorms the past couple weeks. Because of that it was pretty humid which we all know causes massive fogging. Once you got moving it wasn't and issue but I did find myself breaking field rules and wiping away the fog with my thumb quite often.

All in all, a great event and one I would gladly go to again.

My team runs Multicam Tropic, would that be fine? If not we can run civi on the resistance side if we come.

Seller/Buyer Ratings / Re: T6e9a
« on: October 18, 2016, 11:18:33 PM »
Purchased a Scar L from T6e9a, haven't fired it yet because I'm still waiting on my batteries to ship from amazon. I'm sure it will function flawlessly considering his reputation as a tech. As always he was easy to deal with, kept in contact with me the entire time and I received the gun the day after it was shipped.

A+

- 'Full Seal' is defined as a foam band separating the lens of the goggle from the frame portion and the face of the user.
- Mesh goggles, lab safety goggles, safety glasses, etc will not be permitted under any circumstances.

420.0 - 550.9 fps – 50 foot engagement limit, bolt action or Semi-auto replicas only.
551.0+ fps - Prohibited or allowed with permission of event organizer only

Polarstars can only chrono up to 1.55 joules with whatever weight BB they intend to use for the day, which will be marked on their chrono tag. All shooters are subject to random on field chronograph to prevent on field tampering. Any Polarstar shooter found shooting significantly hotter than 1.55 joules will be ejected from the field

Semi-auto refers to replicas that do not have full-auto fire capability, no matter how the selector switch or other user input device is manipulated.

We do not have the capablity to fill P* or CO2 systems such as Polarstars, Vulkans or Tippmanns.

Medic Rules
- This event will utilize a tourniquet style heal system similar to other events and fields.
- All players are required to have two white armbands (will be provided) to heal other players.
- When a participant is hit, he or she must remain in the same spot (sitting, kneeling, etc is fine) with a kill rag on.
- Any friendly player nearby may heal a wounded player by tying a white armband on their arm. After that the wounded player may resume combat. Each armband/use counts as one life, two lives per respawn.
- Every player may be wounded twice before being considered dead and must return to their prospective respawn.

Respawn Rules
- Each team has a separate respawn location on opposite areas of the field.
- 15 minute respawns, using a 'Clock Respawn' system. Respawns are done every 15 minutes!
Example: 12:00, 12:15, 12:30, 12:45, 1:00, 1:15...
- Clocks are located at the spawn point for each team.
- Players are prohibited from assaulting either respawn location.

For Balance purposes, respawn times for a team may be reduced or opposing team may be pushed further back if we feel they are being steamrolled.

No one likes being pushed into a corner all day, this ruins the fun for everyone. The steamrolled team gets frustrated and the assaulting team gets bored

Story line

Following a Trump/Clinton/InsertHere presidency, the new administration has taken a hardline Anti Weed stance due to pressure from pharmaceutical companies. States not in compliance with regulations under the Controlled Substance Act, which lists marijuana as a schedule 1 drug are at risk for having federal funding for key programs cut off from their state. Under fear of losing federal funding, States like Colorado comply, in turn, tanking their own economies as the states became highly reliant on tax income due to marijuana legalization.

Months pass, the current administration faces heavy criticism as cartels take the place of America businesses and begin their own operations. The administration is blamed for not having the foresight to see that this would happen, the administration simply denies their being a problem caused by their policies and blame it on the liberal media making a non issue a national scandal to try to paint the new president as an incompetent fool.

As tensions in the middle east continue to flare up over Syria and ISIS, Russia and China realize do to The United States ongoing and failing war on drugs, that they can do some real economic damage to The US and begin funding and supplying Cartels within The US. One of these Cartels is the The Jackal Cartel located in Northern Michigan.

Russia starts supplying seeds for a GMO strain of marijuana simply known as The Super Weed. This strain is capable of delivering a substantial amount of weed per plant with a high THC content. with this, The Jackal Cartel is able to supply most of the United States with weed grown in Northern Michigan. This makes them a powerful force in the criminal underworld but also a large target, as the drug trade could be crippled with a single blow. However despite this notoriety, the DEA still has no idea where the farms are located. Due to tight lipped dealers, a complex shipping method that utilizes the deep web, drones and a network a mules to get the drugs delivered.

In June 2017, a CIA OP in Russia manages to discover a sever farm used by the Russians to plan shipping routes involved in shipping the GMO seeds and Arms to various cartels across the world. These hackers are able to trace the location back to a farm located in the middle of the woods in Ogemaw county. With this information the CIA forwards this information to the DEA and begin working on planning a raid on facility

Digital Entertainment / Thoughts on E3 this year?
« on: June 15, 2015, 10:32:08 PM »
I know Microsoft, Ubisoft and EA's stuff was today and only more news will come out of it in the coming days from gaming journals. What is MiA's thoughts on this years E3? I'm still sifting through everything and I am so hyped for battlefront and Fallout 4.

Ogre, drop the Xeon and go with a better GPU (the 980 is killer). I have a 3770K and it does just fine with the video processing end of things. Plus the i7 series is better at running games than Xeons are (theoretically).

The one I'm going with is the same spec wise as the i7 i was gonna go with but cheaper by 40 bucks, only lacks intergrated graphics so my 970 will be handling all graphics system wide. No need for integrated graphics when its just a pain in the ass to deal with anyways. When all is said and done If i have the pocket change I wll opt for the 980 instead. AMD's new line they announced is tempting but I'm not sure if I want to pass up on DX12, which I know the 900 line will support.

Hopefully I don't get laughed out of this thread, but I use a laptop for gaming/everyday use :P. I take it places somewhat frequently so I guess it worked out better than a desktop for me. It's a Lenovo ideapad Y510P, so at least it's a somewhat recent model (and it was on a massive sale, so why not?). The core i7 and Nvidia GT 750M is adequate for the games I play at least.

I'm running its bigger brother the 850M, However I have  discovered being a youtuber, I can't always get that 60fps eye candy while recording so I want a better computer.

Digital Entertainment / Gaming In Progress
« on: June 04, 2015, 04:31:09 PM »
As many of you may know, Phantom Reaper and I do lets plays on a channel called gaming in progress and we would post our videos on MiA from time to tome so I decided to recreate the thread he originally posted.

Anyways Here is my latest lets play of Life Is Strange, its a story based game much like the way The Walking Dead by Telltale games is structured involving a girl who can reverse time to prevent tragedies occurring in her town, as well as using this ability to solve mysteries. The story revolves around her but there is the constant feeling of approaching dread as the story is revealed, there is a storm coming, someone is responsible for it and it has something to do with a student who went missing at your academy.

So what sort of beast is everyone running these days? Are you planning a build? Do you need some recommendations? Questions about a part or how to install something, etc? Just want to show off your new build. This is that thread. Do it in here.

I'm currently in the middle of funding a build, going with an Xeon Processor, Nvidia 970 from ASUS which I plan on overclocking. 4TB HDD and 16 GB of ram. Should be about a grand when I am done with it. Its not the best but will be able to max almost anything on the market in 1080p at 60 frames.
